April 2011 - More than a year and a half on, Park Jaebeom, now Jay Park, is finally back. Signed with a new agency, Sidus HQ, he is now ready to comeback/debut as a solo artist. However, 2PM is also due for their comeback stage, coincidentally on the same stage and day.
A/N: I forgot to post this up on LJ after I wrote it. Oops haha.
Chapter List I know that this subject is still a touchy one, but it was part of the prompt, which I will post at the end of the forth/final chapter. I apologise if this offends anyone in anyway.
Chapter 02: Confused Hesitancy
Taking a deep breath, Jay mentally prepared himself. For what? He didn’t have a clue, but all he knew was he had a feeling that something was going to happen. Maybe it was the articles yesterday, all surrounding the comeback stages of both himself and 2PM, or the posts flooding his fancafé, that had caused him to shut it down because it had crashed.
Fingering the silver chain attached to his phone, he reread the message he received from his brother.
Do good today bro. Try not make a scene if you come across them today.
It was typical of his brother to send him a message like that - indirectly supportive and insulting at the same time - just before a performance. His brother had been there for Jay during the controversy and had always supported him. He didn’t bring them up because he knew how Jay didn’t like talking about them, even though Jay had never said that aloud.
“Jay, you ready?” Andrew tapped Jay on the shoulder. Jay gave him a nod and braced himself from the fans and cameras that awaited him outside the van. With one last nod, Andrew stepped out of the van, with Jay following behind him.
As soon as Jay stepped out of the vehicle, he was bombarded by flash photography, voice recorders shoved in his direction, cameras filming his every move and constant screaming of fans. He had been away from this type of scene for so long, he forgot about the lack of personal space an idol got.
“Did you know 2PM were coming back today?”
“What are your reactions towards 2PM performing tonight?”
“Will you be avoiding 2PM?”
“Since 2PM are your competition tonight, do you have any words for them?”
“Are you threatened that you are coming back on the same day as your former members?”
All the questions from the reporters were revolved around the same topic. The topic that had been headlining ever since it was announced the 2PM and Jay Park were coming back on the same day.
His manager and some SidusHQ authorities diverted all the questions away from ‘2PM vs Jay’ and the guards made a pathway for Jay and the rest of his crew that were performing with him today.
Jay kept his head down the whole way to his dressing room, hoping that the cameras would stop flashing and the reporters would leave him alone. Even his supportive, screaming fans weren’t helping. When he reached his dressing room he felt like he was going to completely lose it. He threw the tissue box located on the dressing table across the room, startling Daniel.
“What the hell man?!” Daniel looked at the tissue box on the ground and then to Jay.
“Sorry,” Jay’s voice trembled slightly. Daniel didn’t need to ask what was wrong, and decided to leave it at that.
“You’ve got dress rehearsal next. Be ready in half an hour,” one of the stage managers popped into the dressing room. The occupants in the room gave a nod and the manager left.
“You gonna be okay?” Prepix walked into the dressing room and placed a hand on Jay’s shoulder.
Jay gave a small nod and smile, “Of course, why wouldn’t I be?” He tried to say convincingly, although he felt like he was trying to convince himself more than anything.
“Okay,” with that, Prepix took the next seat at the dressing table and the stylist began working on the five males.
He clutched at the sliver chain at his phone again, something he did when he felt nervous or anxious. It was a gift given to him by close friend and it had always a way of calming him down. The chain had worked for him every time; he certainly needed it now more than ever.

A night club atmosphere filled the stage - there were high tables, chairs and strobe-like lights that flashed on the stage during the chorus of 2PM’s Dance2Night. The stage went dark on the last beat of the song, with Junsu’s ending note.
“Okay, so you’ll perform Even If I Leave You first and then Dance2Night,” the stage director said.
“And Junsu, don’t confuse the choreography between the two okay?” The other members chuckled at the comment the choreographer directed at their main vocalist.
“Yes,” Junsu replied, his head hung low.
“Hey, that doesn’t mean the rest of you can mess up too,” the choreographer’s voice stopped the other five members’ snickering momentarily. They stopped and gave a bow, before they were shooed off stage.
Taec rushed ahead of the other members towards their dressing room and the guys knew what was bothering the rapper. 2PM had only found out a day before their comeback that their former leader was set to debut on the same day. Although the news had been all over the internet, their managers had filtered any articles on the topic to prevent anything from happening. This was mostly due JYP who had wanted to keep 2PM’s lives separate from Jay’s.
Wooyoung was just about to go after the older male when a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
“I’ll go.” Khun said and went after the rapper. Wooyoung sighed, and slowed down to where the remaining members were.
After Jay’s departure, Wooyoung had noticed that Khun and Taec had grown closer and were always talking in whispers - in English - whenever it came to Jay. Even though he didn’t understand what the older males were saying, he got the gist of it and he hated seeing his hyungs this way.
Of course, Jay’s withdrawal had affected Wooyoung as well. Except, he wasn’t certain on how he was feeling about the scandal anymore. Indifference? Hesitance? No, none of them seemed right.
It was because of him that he decided to continue b-boying. At first, Wooyoung had no real knowledge on the style, but after Jay entered the JYPE trainee programme, Wooyoung had sought out the experienced break dancer for tricks and tips. That was the only way he could really communicate with the leader - through dance. And same had gone for Junho.
Even though 2PM was a dance group, Junho couldn’t help but feel that the main dancers in the group were Wooyoung, himself, and Jay. Junho knew that Jay was a strong dancer - actually he was pretty well-rounded in everything. Jay could dance, rap, sing, and although he didn’t have that ‘wow-factor’ onset of looks, his stage charisma certainly paid off. He missed Jay, that was a given, but now he wasn’t so sure anymore. Should Junho be happy for his hyung, or hurt that he left to go solo without a proper goodbye?
“Where’d Taec-hyung and Khun-hyung go to?” Chansung asked, noticing two members were missing.
“Taecyeon-hyung...” Wooyoung nodded his head down the hallway. Chansung just hummed a reply, knowing what he meant.
When Chansung had found out that Jay was going to be at the Mnet station, he didn’t know what to feel. He was hesitant at first, knowing that what Jay had done - leaving like that - had hurt them all, but then he felt a sort of excitement rush through him. His hyung was back, and he was performing too! Though if he expressed this sort of emotion towards his fellow members and management - especially JYP - he would get into all sorts of troubles. And not to mention scandals too.
“And I’m guessing Khun went after him again?” Junsu spoke up. Wooyoung just gave the eldest a small nod and Junsu let out a small sigh.
Junsu didn’t know about his other member’s thoughts on Jay’s comeback, but he didn’t really think much about the situation. He guessed he was just indifferent to everything related to the scandal, due to it being dragged out for so long. Junsu wouldn’t admit it to anyone - if he did and JYP found out, he would be disbanded for sure - but he was actually really proud of their leader. Yes, he still thought of Jay as that, and he always would, even though Jay was immature on a number of levels. It was weird how oddly fitting the lyrics for their comeback was for this situation. Even if you leave me, I'll be happy if I'm able to just watch you, that's all I need. Then again, it was probably just Junsu.
He had always seen Jay fit for solo promotions. Jay had so much to give and being an idol really didn’t give him that much freedom to go on his own road. Junsu would know, having composed a number of songs that he hadn’t been able to showcase. Jealous is probably what people would say Junsu was, but honestly, he was just waiting until he had his own chance in that single spotlight.
Junsu walked into Chansung and was about to comment on why he didn’t walk faster when he saw the members had come to stop. He looked past the members and realised why the air had suddenly turned cold. Junsu noticed how tightly Taec gripped the silver chain from his phone and how tense Khun had become.
Jay stared back at his former members and it was like time had stopped. He had noticed the goofy laughter of the maknae had disappeared, Wooyoung was holding a very cold expression, Junho’s eyes were turning red, Junsu had a hand on the younger JunBrother, Khun’s angelic aura was certainly gone and Jay’s gaze locked dead on Taec’s.
I’m sorry.
