Summary:
April 2011 - More than a year and a half on, Park Jaebeom, now Jay Park, is finally back. Signed with a new agency, Sidus HQ, he is now ready to comeback/debut as a solo artist. However, 2PM is also due for their comeback stage, coincidentally on the same stage and day.
Chapter List I know that this subject is still a touchy one, but it was part of the prompt, which I will post at the end of the forth/final chapter. I apologise if this offends anyone in anyway.
Chapter 03: Fast Forward
It felt like those scenes in the movies. You know the ones where the two people - or in this case seven - meet each other again after a long time and everything fast forwards around them? That was exactly how Jay would describe the situation he was in, to the tee.
The seven of them remained silent, not knowing what to say or how to react to the current situation. Was there a right way to greet someone who you haven’t seen in a long time? Are you supposed to bow, wave, and carry on as though nothing has changed?
The only flaw with that theory was that everything has changed, and Jay knew that as well as 2PM.
Feeling as though it was the only thing he could do, Jay broke into a smile. “H-H-How are you guys?” He asked, his voice slightly cracking.
Taec gave Jay a once over before walking past him - their shoulders brushing each other harshly - and towards 2PM’s dressing room a few metres down. Taec had his fists clenched so tight, his knuckles turned white and he could feel his nails digging into his palm, almost drawing blood.
The other members looked at each other knowingly; they knew Taec wouldn’t be able to face Jay head on like that, even if he put up a strong front. Khun gave Jay a pat on the shoulder, as if to say “Hey” and “Sorry about Taec, he’ll come through” before going after the taller male, who had already disappeared into the dressing room.
“Could be better.” Chansung simply replied, forcing a smile. Jay didn’t fail to notice.
“We saw your comeback last week on Inkigayo,”Junsu said, trying to ease the tension. “Kwon told us you caught up with him, you did really good out there.” He shot him a smile and Jay couldn’t help but return it with one of his own.
“Thanks,” Jay replied softly. “Your comebacks were good too,” he paused, “and I’m sorry that I couldn’t perform with you guys one last time.”
“Hyung,” Junho spoke up, his eyes reddening even more, on the verge of tears.
“It’s okay, Junho-yah.” He approached Junho and gave the male a light squeeze on his arm. Jay felt it was the only thing he could do for him now. “Everything happens for a reason.” Junho chuckled softly at Jay’s choice of words.
An arm suddenly wrapped around Jay, and he found himself to be glomped by the giant maknae, pulling the five of them into a group hug, even Wooyoung joined in.
“Jay!”
The group turned looked towards the direction of the voice.
“Daniel, what is it?”
“We’re on in 10, so say your goodbyes before the managers and whoever else that could blow this reunion out of proportion see you.” Jay gave Daniel a nod, before the latter disappeared around the corner towards their dressing room.
“I wish you could just share our dressing room,” Wooyoung finally said, his voice slightly trembling as a tear rolled down his cheek.
“Me too, Udongie.” Jay gave his boys one last squeeze before letting go. “Hwaiting!” He bumped fists and high-fived the four present members before making his way towards his own dressing room. As much as he wanted to stay until the very last minute, Jay was afraid that if he stayed around them any longer...he didn’t want to think about it.
Making his way down the corridors, he walked past 2PM’s dressing room, only to find him backtracking and stopping just outside their door. He peeked inside to see Taec, head buried in his hands, and Khun comforting him.
It’s now or never.
