This is lovely, darlin'. I love introspective Angel pieces and it's even better when he's thinking about Buffy. *g*
I love these lines especially:
Angel understood that some things are better left unsaid. Buffy knew what was in his heart, what was behind the careful words and restraint. They always could read in between the lines.
He closed the laptop and let himself stare out into a night of misty starlight and dulled city lights. Everything just for that moment made sense. He was right where he was meant to be, and so was she. They would have their day, somewhere, sometime.
You captured the realities of the B/A future relationship in a few simple words but you did it so gracefully, nothing more is needed.
Wonderful, wonderful job. This one is definitely going into my memories. *hugs*
Thanks so much, Lee. This story was kind of quick off the block and very loosely planned, so I didn't really know whether it would come together. It just felt good to write something so light and contained in comparison to some of my other stuff.

For me to be succinct is rare thing, so enjoy it while you can! *lol* Seriously, thank you. It really is a compliment that means a lot to a chatterbox like me.
Aw, this was such a sweet story! I was all giddy over how adorable Angel was with his secret laptop and over-analyzing his exchanges with Buffy and what to say in the "casual" emails, and even though I was brought down from that high at the ending, I think it was a good, realistic way to end. The dream scene was also beautiful.
One thing - I'm not sure I understand why Spike would make sure everyone found out about Angel and Buffy. Despite the slight embarrassment for Angel, I wouldn't have thought Spike would be so eager to let people know that Angel had a connection with her that he didn't.
Thanks a lot. :) I'm glad that you enjoyed the lighter tone of the story and the realistic ending. It was certainly a nice change of pace to write it.

Perhaps that was something that I didn't make clear. In fact, now I read it again, I didn't. Bad, bad me. I had it in my mind that Spike was making sure that everyone knew about Angel's lack of skills with the computer and his secret laptop, and that the Buffy bit had come out by accident. In that, he'd made one peeved, ranting comment to himself (as only a Spike enraged by Angel could do) not meant for public hearing, and then it was like chinese whispers around the office. I was imagining an embarrassed Spike, now laying low, making sure he kept away from Angel. I must edit that to make it clearer. Thanks for pointing that out to me.
That makes perfect sense in the context now that I think about it, but thank you for taking the time to clear it up anyway!
Anyway, I've really enjoyed your writing style and storylines in this one and Presence. Are there more of the What If... series on the way? Or have there been more?
Thank you! :) "Presence" and this one are the only stories so far, but there are definitely more on the way. Next, I'm planning a Buffy perspective to go with "Enough Space", and then onto the rest.
I loved the ending the most even though it made me sad and now I officially hate you.
*LOL* Thanks very much. I'm really glad that you enjoyed the fic and especially its ending. I think Season 5 B/A were stuck in a holding pattern, both waiting for something huge and epiphany-like to happen. But of course it didn't, because life rarely works that way. So they're still waiting. It makes me sad too!
You did, however, make me want scrambled eggs. What's with that? Fic keeps making me hungry.
Thinking about scrambled eggs (cooked by Angel) is also making me hungry! Guess this means that I'd better go and get myself something to eat.
Anyway, loved this oodles. Hope you don't mind if I friend you.
