Bills, bills, bills...

Today we have been doing something we should have done a long time ago. Sorting out and shredding/burning old bills. We decided on keeping stuff for five years - its a bit of an arbitrary number but if we can stick to it it will keep the mountains of paper to a minimum.

So - a poll!

I usually get around to it whenever I move house or flat - and still try to keep a multi-year record, for tax purposes.

We usually only keep the most recent bills (we always pay in full so all we need is proof that the balanceb/fwd has been cleared). We shred the old ones then put them in the composter.

Bank statements and payslips, however, we keep for 6 years.
