Questions from becofoz

Continuing that 5 question meme that’s been going around, becofoz sent me some new ones.

1. How many online friends have you met in real life, and did you get along with all of them?
2. Have you suffered from any really bad injuries in your time with Phoenix Swords?
3. What board games do you enjoy and is there any that you recommend?
4. What's the best thing about living in your part of the US?
5. What is your go-to comfort food?

1. On Dreamwidth 13 of the 46 folks here, or 28.3%. On LJ it is 48 of 128 or 37.5%. So, not a huge percentage of either group. I’m almost always willing to meet folks if they’re interested, but will almost never suggest it on my own. As far as I know, I got along with them all. I didn’t have a bad reaction to any. What they thought of me is up to them… There are a few folks that I’ve had a falling out with who happen to be on those lists, but that has nothing to do with meeting them in person. I don’t always defriend them on line, even if I don’t talk to them much in real life anymore. Often, they only linger as user names anyhow and haven’t been on in years.
On facebook, I have met 219 out of 246 for 89% of the people, far exceeding either journal. But, some of those folks I don’t know well at all. They met me at a show, or their friends of my wife or things like that. And, some of those folks I do not get along with, although if they know that or not might not be as clear. Some folks I’ve shut off their feed, even if I didn’t unfriend them. But, don’t tell them that…
I do make a habit of not friending folks first. I’m normally willing to friend people, unless it is someone I know I don’t get along with, but I almost always wait for them to do the friending. The only exception is if they say something about it elsewhere and I assume they are interested.

2. Not me. There have been some bad ones over the years. My wife needed stitches after tripping and hitting her head on something once. One of our other members broke her kneecap when she was in the wrong place during her performance and another performer ran into her. But, things certainly could be worse than that given what we do. And, in 470 events, with an average of about 3 performances per event over 23 years, we’re doing OK. I certainly hope that continues.

3. There are a whole lot I like. On my iPad I play a lot of Dominion and Race for the Galaxy, which are two I like in person with the cards as well. It’s a lot easier to set up on the iPad…

4. I’m not someone who likes it very hot. Above 20 is not really my thing. It does get warmer than that here in the summer, but usually not for too long. (Although recent years have been more.) I also like being near the ocean. I can drive there in an hour or so and like to at least a few times each year. When I lived in the mountains in New Hampshire about 200km north of here I really liked that. But, not so many jobs so I came back down here where the jobs are.

5. There used to be an Irish Pub near us that we ate at fairly often for several decades. We used to say that after a long trip we weren’t really home until we had eaten there. Sadly, the owners retired and the folks who took it over aren’t as good. So, we’re kind of lacking that right now. If it is a specific food, it would be something my wife bakes, either her cookies, brownies or apple pie.
