What is this...content you speak of?

Enjoying a few days off i finally find some time to write (about) stuff again. There's been a lot of "media" thingies in my head lately and i wanted to share the thoughts - also this LJ is in desperate need of content, so here goes. :)

Tron: Uprising
I honestly haven't heard about this show until Tacimur pushed me towards it. I just glanced at random 5 min on TV a few weeks ago and was not really impressed with the quality, but that drastically changed when i saw all 19 Episodes from Season one. The production quality of that series is really high, and i was also very intrigued by the fact that Disney tries to cover more "mature" topics like intrigues, murder, lies and war all wrapped up in the rather simplistic-looking scenario that TRON provides.
Long story short - i just devoured all 19 episodes within 3 days and now crave for more. I can see why Disney is planning to cancel the Series (it's largely child-incompatible) but on my book this production has a way higher standard than the actual movie.

F.E.Z
...finally it appeared on Steam a few days ago. I was really anticipating the game a few years ago since it looked like a loveletter to childhood gaming. I also was highly upset about the fact that the developer chose to make it an Xbox-exclusive - a decision that brought me close to boycotting the game entirely. But after seeing "Indie Game - The Movie" i felt the sheer amount of work and stress that this guy has gone through, so i got the game in exchange for "Moncaco" (thx Taldren).
The game itself is as expected - a rich audiovisual experience with some really neat ideas and cross-links to our real world. But what really upset me was the game's code quality itself. After 30 min. of gaming i had constant crashes to Desktop. Obviously this is a known fact and the developer was nicely enough to respond within a few minutes after my tweet. Today i already had a patch applied and so far it works nicely. It's cool to have this kinda support for a game, but as a Software-Tester myself i cannot understand how someone can release this game with severe bugs like that! Considering the fact that he had more than a year to polish it up for the multiplattform-release i was really disappointed at first - and that's the impression that matters!

Monaco
Just played that game a few rounds. It's nicely done with a cool "different" humor. Co-op adds to the experience, but so far the game remains a bit too flat to keep me hooked for longer. But for a game in between its really nice.

Blacklight: Retribution
Now playing with some friends this game keeps motivating me for months. The community is relatively small and the developer (Zombie Studios) is thankfully listening to customer feedback. I (rather voluntarily) spent 10 bucks in the game for some customization, but everything can be achieved rather quickly if you play 3-5 games an evening, and it feels kinda cool to modify your gear and play style to the last bit. If they keep adding new and interesting content at this pace this could very well keep me hooked as long as TF2 did. :)

Having some time at hand i also made a brief instructional video with a bit more "stylish" editing polish in mind. I'm still learning my tools of the trade (Sony Movie Studio) but i think there's progress, which makes me happy. :D
