Character Name: Haruno Sakura
Fandom: Naruto, manga
Gender: Female
Age: 15

Original or Anomaly?: Original
Personality: Sakura is an interesting girl. She’s fully capable of masking her true thoughts and feelings behind a façade-something she did for most of her childhood into her early teens. She’s intelligent and observant and can act the part she needs to-but as she’s grown older she’s matured enough to realize she doesn’t need to hide herself behind a personality, she doesn’t need to fit in and be popular to be happy. She’s taken to displaying her true self to the world, though she’s still capable of pretending in order to get what she wants.
Her true personality is complex. She’s exceedingly intelligent and observant, able to memorize things easily, and spot patterns and inconsistencies most normal people miss. She was considered the smartest kid in her class (until it later came to light that Shikamaru was a genius) and her mental skills are formidable.
Along with an intelligent, analytical mind Sakura possesses an incredibly violent and short temper. She is capable of holding it in check, but as she’s grown older she’s seen less reason to, and often unleashes her ire to devastating effect. She is fiercely loyal to her friends (though they are not exempt from her outbursts) and easily angered when it comes to slights against them. She also has a very compassionate, caring nature, despite her violent tendencies, and she can be incredibly kind and gentle when the mood takes her. She’s also very somewhat perverted.
Sakura does everything she undertakes with determination and passion. She refuses to be left in the dust as a weakling, and will strive against all odds to prove her worth and help her important people.
History: As a little girl Sakura was filled with insecurity about her looks-her forehead, in particular. She was teased by other children and bullied for her weakness. One day a confident girl named Ino found her crying and told her to be proud of her forehead and show it bravely. With Ino’s help and encouragement Sakura began to grow some confidence in herself-though she still masked a lot of her personality-and became one of the popular girls. Unfortunately for her friendship with Ino, both girls developed a crush on the same raven-haired classmate. They declared each other rivals in love, and the friendship was broken, though the good Ino had done for Sakura’s confidence remained.
Sakura was the top of her class in written work and memorization at the academy and she excelled as a natural talent at chakra control. However in combat power she wasn’t great, so she was placed in a team with the class’s top rookie-Uchiha Sasuke, her long-time crush-and its lowest loser-Uzumaki Naruto, a boy she found annoying. Their team leader was Hatake Kakashi, and the three of them passed his test to become full Genin by proving they were willing to sacrifice their own ambitions for teamwork, though that was mainly thanks to Sasuke.
The team went on to accomplish many missions, mostly small time, with one exception, and it became more and more apparent to Sakura that she was outclassed. Even the loser Naruto was turning out to be a better ninja than she was-and as they worked together she began to see him less as a loser and more as a dear friend. Each time her friends got into trouble and she was unable to protect them was one more frustration. In several instances she was a liability to her teammates-needing to be rescued from Orochimaru by Sasuke and used as a hostage by Gaara in the chuunin selection exam. Her knowledge and learning and chakra control were better then that of her team mates but that’s where her talents seemed to end. When it came to real combat she was useless. Even when she was trying to defend Naruto and Sasuke during the preliminary stages of the Chuunin exam, it was only with Lee’s help that she was able to stall the enemies long enough for Sasuke and Naruto to recover.
History continued: Things became intolerable to Sakura when she was unable to stop Sasuke from leaving the village. It was the last time she could take sitting uselessly by as her friends fought and bled. She went to the Hokage, Tsunade, and asked the woman to teach her to become a powerful medical ninja. With her natural skill at fine-tuned control and her keen brain Tsunade was able to instruct her well. The woman not only taught Sakura how to be an amazingly talented and creative medic, Tsunade also taught Sakura how to fight and how to survive a fight. Sakura’s super strength, ability to read an opponent’s attacks easily, tactical abilities and speed all came from Tsunade’s training. She turned out to be a genius at medical jutsu, and her skills were expected to surpass Tsunade’s one day.
After undergoing Tsunade’s training and meeting with Naruto and Kakashi again, the three formed Team Kakashi. They were sent to rescue the village of Suna’s Kazekage and on that mission Sakura saved Kankuro’s life using her new medical skills, and fought the famous missing-nin Akasuna no Sasori from Akatsuki, with the help of Sasori’s grandmother. Sakura’s new skills and strength were put to the test and proven, but unfortunately she lost her friend Chiyo at the end of the mission-Chiyo sacrificed her own life-force to save Sakura’s and to bring Gaara back from the dead.
Kakashi was badly wounded during the mission, but Sakura had gained valuable information on Orochimaru-and therefore Sasuke-from Sasori before he died. Team Kakashi was therefore assigned a new leader-Yamato-and a new member-Sai-to fill out the typical four man squad.
Yamato was a good leader, but Sai’s personality (or lack of one) greatly clashed with Sakura and Naruto. Trying to work out their differences, the four went to confront Orochimaru and ended up in battle with him. Naruto released the nine-tailed fox and ended up severely wounding Sakura-Kabuto was able to fix her up, but it came to light that Sai had betrayed them. Chasing Sai, Kabuto and Orochimaru, the remnants of team Kakashi confronted Sai, who had a change of heart, and at last Sasuke, who seemed changed as well, but not in a positive way. There was a brief fight, where Sasuke seemed determined to kill Naruto (and yet none of the wounds he inflicted during the scuffle were severe, even when he was given opportunity) and then Orochimaru ended the fight. The team, with Sai, returned home in failure, vowing to try again.
Sai earned himself a place of friendship with Naruto and Sakura, and the team recovered and planned their next moves. Meanwhile, the organization Akatsuki was moving as well. After several confrontations with the organization it came to Tsunade’s attention that Sasuke had killed Orochimaru and was seeking his brother Itachi, a member of Akatsuki. Naruto and Team Kakashi assembled with another team to track down Uchiha Itachi, hoping to find him before Sasuke did. The plan failed, and they were delayed in reaching Sasuke. Once again the team returned to Konoha, only this time to the news of Jiraiya's death.
Concerned over the effects of this news on both her teacher Tsunade and her best friend Naruto, Sakura was able to do little but sit by and watch as Naruto went off to train and Tsunade mourned.
Strengths: Observant and intelligent. She has no bloodline limit but she’s hard working, diligent, and has an excellent eye for details. She memorizes and deduces things rapidly. She’s perfected her chakra control to the finest level, and her medical jutsu is astounding for her age. She can heal, figure out antidotes, and counter poisons more efficiently then most medi-nin twice her age.
Because of her fine chakra control and timing, things she developed for her medical skills, she can also hit like a truck. She’s excellent at dodging and figuring out an enemies attack patterns and weaknesses, as well as adapting to knew situations.
She’s outgoing and social, and able to stand up for herself. She’s bossy, likes to be pampered but doesn’t require it, is self-sufficient, and loyal as gravity to her friends.
Weaknesses: She has a temper. She’s occasionally hypocritical. She’s a bit of a pervert, and sometimes easily discouraged when she feels she’s been a failure to those she loves. Though she tends to pick herself up from that pretty well.
She speaks her mind, and that’s not necessarily a good thing if she doesn’t like you. Her stamina is good but not excellent.
She can hold a grudge just as long as she can hold her loyalty, and she doesn’t mind being sneaky about things if it gets her what she wants.
First Person Sample: [The hologram flickers for a moment, someone’s hand in the way. Then the hand disappears and a pink shirt is visible before the person steps back to reveal a girl half bending over to examine the hovering sphere]
That was unexpected. How do I get back to the music? For that matter, how do I turn this off?
[Her hand blocks the view again as she touches the sphere, after a moment the hologram switches off.]
Third Person Sample: Sakura’s eyes narrowed, flashing a dangerous green. She cracked her knuckles thoughtfully. Puzzle. It was a puzzle. How she’d ended up here, and why. And she was kind of pissed off. Tsunade needed her. Really needed her right now. They had things to do. Not to mention with the news of Jiraiya’s death she knew Tsunade couldn’t be holding up well, as good as her Hokage mask was, Sakura and Shizune could see the pain.
So. That meant deal with the current problem, whatever the heck that turned out to be, and get back home. Right? Right. So she was alone for this one maybe, but that was fine. She wouldn’t rely on her teammates to rescue her anymore, she’d get herself out of this mess with her own brains and strength.
Whatever this mess was anyway. The room looked like it’d belonged to her forever, but it wasn’t hers, she knew she’d gone to sleep in her own bed, safe in Konoha. How she’d woken up here was a mystery she intended to solve and rectify.
Actually, the first mystery to solve was probably what and where here was. Tightening her jaw determinedly, Sakura set about exploring her room first. Her clothes were all there, a picture of Team Seven and a drawing from Sai on the dresser. Her kit was also there, though when she checked it, the only contained medical supplies, scrolls, and a pair of kunai. Not even a set of exploding tags. The lack of weapons was somewhat disconcerting, though not as bad as if the weapons hadn’t been there at all.
Dressed, she felt more at ease, pulling her gloves on and checking her appearance in the mirror. She’d found and odd pink orb whose function she wasn’t yet certain of, but it seemed harmless. That left the door to try. The room itself hadn’t seemed to contain any traps or clues, but it was certain whatever lay beyond it had to give her some bearings. And she was now more then mentally prepared to deal with odd circumstances, and possibly punch whoever dared kidnap her without her consent.
