The Royal Tenenbaums is full of win. Most definitely in my top five movies of all time. I love it so much I think I'm secretly in it.

I had to pick Shawshank out of those movies by default because I haven't seen the other two :O

When your friend finally sees all three movies, she will say, OMG how could anyone not put His Girl Friday first on this list? WTF? Yet I vote for Bull Durham, because that is the one I think anyone needs to see first. Because why? Maybe just for the decor in Annie Savoy's house. Maybe because all three main characters are wondering about career changes? Maybe just because of the "I believe in..." speech.

P.S. Great gift advice! I will definitely use this tip, and not just on children.

spend the extra two or three bucks for a wind-up toy or small stuffed animal to go in the box

That is good advice. I usually put candy or something but toys are better because they can last longer.
