wal-mart is 1000 times better than local businesses and anybody with half a brain can see that. people just think they have to hate it because that makes them liberal and compassionate.

wal-mart is not better than anything. i will take nate's advice and sue myself if i ever shop there. sam walton would have jesus spinning in his grave if jesus was still in one. his "christian beliefs" are what has led wal-mart on their moral crusades to keep "dirty music" off shelves in their stores but it hasn't kept the stores from abusing their workers and setting of the worst standards possible. the stores have a history of demanding employess work before they've had chances to clock in or after they've clocked out, stealing money from their employees in addition to stealing livelihood from the "small business" that george bush and the political right seems to praise so highly. the place is currupt and backwards through and through - you don't have to be a liberal to see that.
shitty economic situations most certainly force people to work there.
when you need a job and wal-mart's the only place hiring, you're gunna take the job. it doesn't mean that wal-mart should take advantage of that, especially with the facade of being a morally upright corporation.
