So I managed to self-inflict a mild LCL strain going over the first wall obstacle for the second time (I'd gone back to give somebody a boost over it), but managed to hobble through the rest of the race.

Which was fine, since Carolyn, on the way over to the race, got very quiet and serious and then announced that she was going to run it with us

If you aren't murdering slaves for fun, or driving them unarmed into the enemy to lubricate the ground with their blood, or disparaging the citizen-soldiers who won the battle before you got your aristocratic warrior-caste asses to the battlefield, can you really call it a "Spartan" race? ;)

I'd say an Athenian race is a better model for free people, but of course we've already got one.

Well, I'd kidnapped me some helots but the organizers got all stuffy. Is a little historical accuracy too much to ask?
