Oh gorgeous - the tension here - it's so tight it might shatter any moment. I doubt the relationship with Anders was all tea and cake before Act III, and you've captured it beautifully. Well done.

I'm glad the tension is there - I was really trying to create an atmosphere where there is this closeness between them, but there is also something wrong about it.

Their relationship is so complex and utterly messed up, and it's way too interesting to write about.

Glad you liked this!

This is so lovely. Sometimes the interplay between Anders and Hawke just makes my insides ache, and it would be so easy to dismiss him out of hand as a madman bent on one cause, but he's just.. not. I still think that his love for Hawke is one of the more intriguing modifiers to really sort through, since it has so many implications. Your writing here reveals, and implies more of, the conflict and suffering he has to go through.

They are by far the most messed up couple that I've written about. I really wish that we'd gotten to see more of the stuff during the two timeskips, because I feel like there could have been a lot of character development for Anders there.

This is nice. Painful and yet somehow still sweet. There's the tension and fear and all the messed-up-ness of the relationship, but you can still see how much they love each other.

I suspected as much. Meredith is no fool, but she knows how the chessboard is laid out.

I really enjoy the bits about how she tries to explain, and how it dawns on him. For all his big ideas, he is incredibly narrow-minded; how else would she keep herself and everyone else safe if she didn't agree to a detante with the devil, as it were?

I also feel like we can SEE him pulling away from her here - he realizes she will never *truly understand* the plan he has, what he thinks *needs* to be done. Oh Anders. Anders, Anders, Anders. I just wish you would TRUST in people. (That why it hurt so much...)

I really wish that they had addressed more why Meredith hasn't dragged a mage Hawke off to the Gallows in the game. I'm at least glad that there's some acknowledgement of why she hasn't had the Templars take Anders or Merrill.

It really does hurt when he doesn't trust you in the game...especially because you know something bad is going to happen. And then it does and...ugh, Dammit, Anders!
