Oh, meant to add - I personally always prefer longer. I like being able to really sink my teeth into something.

Love this and the characterization you've got going. I'm a fan of longer fics, patient enough to wait, and don't mind authors using their own Hawkes. :) Perhaps I'll read the next chapter at a reasonable time when I can offer something more coherent.

I do have a couple of spelling/grammar peeves, though. 'Lightning' refers to electrical phenomena; 'lightening' refers to a reduction of darkness. 'It's' with the apostrophe is a contraction of it is; the possessive form (its) doesn't use the apostrophe. Pretty sure there was also a 'who's' (contraction) in place of a 'whose' (possessive).

Thanks for the spelling/grammar stuff! I keep doing the 'lightning' versus 'lightening' thing...one of these days, I will catch it before I post. At least I caught my wonderful misspelling of darkspawn before I put this out...'darkswap' is really not an acceptable alternative spelling.
