It's finally time to start doing not-nice things to Blue. Aren't you all excited?

I was originally embarrassed to even post this excerpt as my novel snippet on the NaNo forum, but I actually got good feedback on it, which surprised me greatly. So, I'm leaving it be, for now. I'm posting it as-is without reading over it and changing it.

You've already heard what I have to say about this, but I'll put a comment here as well (because, really, comments just make days posts more fun).

This scene is heartbreaking... especially with everything you've been doing to show how important Blue's dad is to him. It becomes even stronger considering how, in the last scene when you talked about the two moms and Blue's dad trying to talk to her through the door, I got the very strong impression of his dad being the one who holds the whole family together. It's easy to see, then, how his loss could send the family spiraling into the darkness that they end up in.

I didn't want to read this. It has the sound of something large like the cross beam that holds up the center of a house cracking in that deep crack sound, telling you it's a break through to the core.
