Inside my head is runny like egg yolk and my glasses are pinching the bridge of my swollen nose and I'm vertiginous and wanting to rip the glasses off but I can't see without them and the sudden head motion will exponentiate undesirable symptoms. I taste sour and my abdomen is tender and I probably shouldn't have eaten all that toast.

why do they not become people until after they are gone? what is the rupture that runs between human and humanity? when i look at austere live oak outlines on vacuous texas wintersky, i always feel drawn and, latterly, connected. but the heart of the subject is so offputting, so assaulting, so scrutinizing, until it is inaccesible.

well yes, it would be easier with trees. they don't require talking to and empathy and any sort of modified shelter system when they grow old :)
