She's Alive!

I cannot believe how long it has been since I updated. What even. The last time I posted an entry was while I was researching for my final Goth Lit essay, and now semester break is not only half over, but I have my results. Can I just say, first semester? OWNED. HD, D, D, C (that's Australian academic grading, for all you Americans who are used to ( Read more... )

If I were to be fannish about it, I think I might find myself writing Olivia/Munch, but that might get me burned at the stake by shippers, and I don't know if anyone in the world would even read it.

Ooh! *hand up* One of my very first favourite pairings was Kay Howard/Munch back in the day. I haven't watched SVU in years, but I would read any kind of Munch fic.

Yay, fellow Munch fan! If your main reason for watching SVU would be him, it's probably better that you haven't watched it for a while - he's been less and less visible since about season 10, though he still pops up every few episodes to be awesome (as far as I can find, Belzer has never publicly commented on the reduction in the number of episodes he appears in, so I can only hope it was his choice not to work so much, rather than NBC being ageist arses).

Actually, aside from fancying the idea of Olivia/Munch a bit (not in canon, but in fic), I think he'd make an awesome HP crossover character, what with how intertextual he is. And there's even a Ministry employee called Eric who could be like his nephew or something. And imagine if he and Alastor Moody got started on conspiracy theories?

How wonderful to hear from you! And congratulations on these excellent results.

I've never read Twilight myself, but your rec doesn't inspire any desire to start on it.

Have fun on Minerva_Fest writing (Yay! New Feather-story!) And don't stay away too long, this time - we've missed you most dreadfully.

Welcome back ♥ As you noticed the latest by my review to "Chosen and Accepted" you are one of my top-3-favourite authors.... you manage to push all the right buttons to get to my heart :-)
Very well done about your semester-results as well! I can't imagine HAVING to read "Twilight" for uni though - how gross!

It was a bit gross, but my teacher wasn't a fan or anything, so we had quite a lively tutorial in which we bagged it out for an hour, so that was gratifying. And at least now I have an informed opinion on its awfulness.

If you think the Twilight books are bad, avoid the movies.

I guess I have the right balance of buzzwords and bullshit?
Ahahaha why do I feel that that sums up uni all too well?

I'm a hopeless swot, I guess
Join the club. :P

I tend to read things and get all 'YAY STORY!', and get really into it, and only realise when I see other people talking about them how problematic they were (or aspects of them were).
THIS THIS THIS!!! I mean, sometimes I'm more discerning than others (both as in 'some events more than others' and in being more discerning than other people with certain works) but most of the time my critical brain just doesn't click on as I'm reading. That's why I tend to read other reviews before I form my final opinion on a book: they make me think critically, and I decide what I notice and agree with upon hindsight.

Also completely agreed on Twilight. And I read the whole damn series. Frightening. (Also, ditto on 50 Shades of Grey--but perhaps more so, for older women have clearly latched onto it. I haven't read the book myself, but I read a chapter-by-chapter review that ( ... )
