Here are two videos I want to share with you.

First, the trailer for Quartet, Maggie Smith's new film. Another retirement home story! This time for retired performers, and co-starring Billy Connolly (!:D), Michael Gambon, and a whole bunch of other faces I recognise but don't know the names of and am too lazy to go and look up. It looks awesome. ( Read more... )

They're both so wonderful, those vids. I look forward to Quartet as much as I did to Marigold.

And Fiona Shaw!!!

BTW, yes, 1981, Quartet, based on Jean Rhys's novel (sez the little swot who happens to have the biography at hand).

I just watched the older version of Clash of The Titans last week, for the first time, and almost peed myself when I saw Maggie Smith as a goddess! She was so young, and even back then her acting skills were superb! I just love her.

Stunning collection of women in the Tatler Ball! Aside from Fiona Shaw I saw someone who was a ringer for Debbie Harry, and the woman who stars in "Lost Girl", which I am at present watching.

Maggies is always bliss.

Thanks for the post,
L

Also, can I just say I am loving this seemingly new trend of 'retirement movies' or 'hey what the baby boomer generation is getting on retirement age, and shit man they have all this disposable income to be spending on things like going to the cinema, so maybe we should make some awesome movies with them in mind', because it means people like me can go see them and enjoy them too, despite being nowhere near the target demographic :D.
Ding ding ding! This. And so you should keep up on them and keep posting about them, so I can be reminded to see them all. (: (Since otherwise I live under a big rock and miss everything.)

Unfortunately the trailer won't work (removed) and I couldn't find anywhere else where it wasn't removed, including IMDB, so I'll just have to check back some other time. D:

That video is wonderful--especially with Fiona Shaw! :D And the fac that there was a Lesbian Ball...that's so awesome my mind can't compute. Researching it also led me to this site, which I appreciate because AfterEllen has actually been annoying ( ... )

The trailer looks intriguing, even for non movie watcher me.

And where the bip did you find that lesbian sexy dance ball? I don't know what this Tatler is, but they managed to find quite a few interesting women: I recognised Clare Balding and Sue Perkins as well as Fiona.
