The first Sunday in September is Father's Day in Australia, so naturally, at work, we have various Dad-related specials, like lots of alcohol specials, and gift-chocolate specials, and the Avengers DVD for an awesome price, and and and. The bakers also get in on the deal, and put fancy icing and piping on the standard issue store-bought mud cakes. ( Read more... )

Heh, many years ago, Jay went out to buy a card for his parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Two hours later, he came back with one which inside said "With greatest sympathy".

"It didn't say that in the shop!" he said indignantly as I giggled madly.

I'd've given it to my parents, totally - which I proved by picking up a similarly messaged card for Jay's 50th birthday. I just couldn't resist it ;)

Grin! Would that be a question mark as in 'Dad, could I have an advance of ...' or one as in 'Dad ... or the Milkman?' Interpretation would depend on the Dad, I guess.
