Notes: I originally wrote this as my short story slash drabble sort of thing for English and just now got around to revising it.
WHAT HE SEEMS
Outside.
He appears confident. He looks like he could rule the world and he knows it. He could be anything he wants to be, have anything he wants to have. His smooth skin, intense eyes, toned body. Not too pretty, but pretty enough to be gorgeous. Perfect. Perfection, a perfectionist who does not need the assistance of makeup or expensive clothes or a beautiful woman to glow. He has his choice of lovers, male and female. He likes his toys as perfect as he is, with perfect skin and perfect hair and perfect bodies.
Inside.
Looks can be deceiving, and very much so. He appears confident, he seems perfect. The word perfection would only apply to him physically, but wait, no. The scars on his wrists are not perfect, and neither are the bruises on his chest. Not the bite marks on his collarbone, or the scratches blazing a trail down his back. No, he is not perfect. Far from it, as a matter of fact. A perfect man would not allow someone else to do such damage to such a perfect body. A perfect man would not be with someone who intentionally hurts him, physically and mentally. No, he is not a perfect man. He is a broken man, an obedient pet without a trace of who he used to be.
He continues life as if he had never met Matt. He never mentions him, but he is always thinking about him. He is always thinking, always wondering what he will do wrong to invoke Matt's anger. But it does not matter; he could do nothing wrong, go out of his way to do nothing wrong, and yet the morning light exposes new dents.
Brian is a broken man. Not perfect, far from it.
I prefer constructive comments, but all comments are nice.
