Hi. We're getting Gabriel a tool set, a wooden dinosaur puzzle, and a Tag (reading pen thing by leapfrog) (from my parents). Adrian (April '07) is getting an Elmo live and an easier wooden animal puzzle.

I was thinking two or three things also...I dunno...when the teenagers were little (they are 17 and 18 now) I recall getting them tons of gifts! But, I think alot of that was for my enjoyment to see them opening things! At MY current age and stage, I need more simplicity!!!

When I was little my Christmases were always huge and full of gifts... until my sixteenth birthday and I got my violin. I want my children to really appreciate whatever they get especially if the economy continues the way it has been. Hopefully then when they do get a lot of something BIG it seems that much more special. (We don't have much money right now. Does anyone?) Teenagers are hard. How do you do it? :o/

Lol, Teenagers ARE difficult, but if you keep your ears open you know what they want and like...not sayin' it's easy!!

I noticed that mostly after Freshman year they were into electronics and clothes...the little things go into their stockings, although those are so much easier to find for my girl than my boy! (lotions, lip glosses, Hello Kitty things, etc)

I don't want my kids, any of them, to have a sense of entitlement...I've always tried to help them be aware of what they do have in terms of how others sometimes have to live. And, insofar as the every day, I noticed that too many things began to own us after a while rather than us owning the things.

I think my kids turned out a bit of alright, and even though they do sometimes have classic teenaged behaviors, I feel blessed and lucky to have them. Ah, now I've gone and rambled on!!!

I think I may tell Nico's Dad about the Thomas toy...so far Nico has many many many of the wooden Thomas toys and a super great train table to use them on...do I really want to invest in a whole new line of Thomas? (Master Tracks or something...) Probably not!

how is the f.p. camera? probably really kid friendly? Nico has a camera, an old model digital that we had laying around. He actually really does like to take photos too! But it's not like he understand the settings or anything. I bet a kid camera would be a lot of fun.

Art supplies we have coming out the .... me being a Montessori teacher!! but there are so many fun art related things out there, always a good gift. :) Thanks for your input!

Most of their presents (little ones) come from scouring Goodwill - little cars and a wooden tractor and card games.

Their main present (combined) is a dress-up box. I hit the Target $1 spot for masks and Grocery Outlet for animal costumes before Halloween, Old Navy on Halloween for another costume, and Goodwill on 11/1 for what was left of their costumes on clearance (and with my birthday discount). They got some other pretend play toys from Walgreens (R's getting a tool belt and doctor kit, M's getting a mixer and tea set). And the whole family will have PJs that I'm making - though the adults are just getting the pants =)

So different from last year's "I won't buy anything from China" Christmas that we had. We've had zero income in months, so it's slim pickin's this year... but it has been fun looking for great deals for them!

The Dollar Store (Tree?) is an amazing place for stocking stuffers if you do that...

We do! But the closest Dollar Tree is about 90 minutes from here - don't know if we'll be heading back before Christmas.

I've been doing what I call "Extreme couponing" since my husband lost his job. Freebies, rebates, all that stuff. So they'll each be getting some things from that (toothbrushes, Bonnie Bell lip smackers, candy - to counteract the toothbrushes I guess, that kinda stuff. But if we/I head back to Salem for any other shopping, I'll be sure to take a look around. Thanks!

Lucas' big present from us this year is a bicycle. He loves the big wheel but he's ridiculously tall so he's getting to be too big for it - we decided that a bicycle would go over well and he'll enjoy it during the spring, summer, and fall (and heck, probably the winter - all bundled up!).

He's still VERY into dinosaurs so we've gotten him a few different dino things too. And some Thomas stuff. And many many many books! :)
