Has anyone taken nyquil while pregnant?

Hi ladies I was just wondering if any of you have taken nyquil while pregnant? I'm sick as a dog and am dying for some relief. I know that it's not completely reccomended because of it's 10% alcahol rating but if used sparingly do you think it would be alright? Need feedback ASAP!

I did... I don't recommend it but I know where you're coming from. I wouldn't take more than one dose if you can help it, but you'll probably be fine.

I'm gonna try to go to bed tonight without taking it but if it's a night like last night I might just have to. I didn't get any sleep. I was up all night with aches and pains not to mention coughing my head off and throwing up along with a stuffed and runny nose. Not fun at all. I'm trying my best to hold out till monday when I see my ob to see if he can reccomend something but I don't know if I'll make it.

How did you make out? I hope you're feeling better, or at least got some sleep last night!

Well I started feeling a little better. The aches and pains went away and so did the runny nose and cough thank God. Unfortunately the Diarhea and Vomitting kept up which kept me up most of the night. It didn't help either that for some reason my 5 1/2 month old decided to wake up every hour upon the hour. It was the night from hell needless to say. he just wouldn't stay asleep. We tried changing his diaper, giving him a bottle, letting him lay down with us,We probed his little bottom to make sure he didn't have to go poopy. We've been having to do that since he was born due to collick. Now he's just a little lazy butt who refuses to poopy on his own. We talked to the doctor about it. He said to just keep doing what we're doing and he'll start on his own eventually. He gets apple juice too, to help it along. Any way between still getting sick and running to the bathroom which of course irritated my hemmroids beyond belief. Yes those little buggers are still around from the first pregnancy. And of course my irritable little bundle of ( ... )

Oh ear infections are the worse I had one so bad once I ended up in the ER. They actually had to give me percaset
(I know I spelled that wrong but I feel too crappy to look up the correct spelling hehe) for the pain. I wasn't pregnant when I had it though thank God!

The alcohol is not the only issue. There are also several medicinal ingredients in it that are classified as "C", which means no studies have been done to determine their effect on the fetus.

How far along are you? If you're past the first trimester (and I know how much a cold sucks... just went through one myself!) I might well decide to go with the nyquil. With Class "C" ingrediants, the recommendation is that they can be used if the benefit of using them outweights the risk of taking them.

I had a nasty sinus cold just now, and ended up taking Sudafed twice to get some relief from the agonising sinus pressure. I took the dose recommended for children, and while it didn't work to the same strength for me, it took the edge off the discomfort enough for me to functional and made me feel not quite so bad about the "Class C" issue. I don't think I would have done it if I was in the first trimester.

I'm almost 17 weeks so I'm definetly past the first trimester. I'm gonna try to wait till monday when I see my ob but if it gets real bad I might give in and take a dose. It's the worse at night because I can't sleep with the constant coughing and aches. Last night I didn't fall asleep until 5 am. Luckily today a friend watched my 5 1/2 month old son all morning so I was able to sleep. I didn't end up getting out of bed untill around 6 pm. I just got a bath and am about to try and go to sleep again since I feel so crappy. I'm trying to drink as much fluids and get as much rest as possible to beat this bug. It's definetly more than a cold though cause I'm throwing up and having diarhea as well, I think I might have the flu possibly. Hopefully it will be a good couple nights and I will be able to hold off on the nyquil till monday when I see the doc! Thanks for all the info! :)
