PENIS!!
We had the big ultrasound today. The little bugger was moving all over the place! He did probably 3 complete flips throughout the entire thing. He was wiggling away :)
But he didn't cooperate very well. He liked to move, but then curl right back up into a ball... so it was hard for her to get certain photographs. And he stayed the longest in the position where he was facing my back, so it was very difficult for her to get a good profile shot.
Unfortunately, we didn't get an A+ though. We got an A. The kidneys are supposed to measure at 5mm. One of his measured at 5.5mm and the other measured at 7mm. She said over and over again not to worry. That it wasn't something completely abnormal, and it could just be a measuring error. She explained that she only tells her patients to worry if they measure 10+mm. But, because they aren't normal, we get to have another ultrasound!
My doctor only does one ultrasound unless they have specific reasons to do more. So I am happy about getting another one squeezed in. And maybe next time we'll get a better profile shot.
She explained that if the kidneys continue to measure too big, that it's typically because urine is getting backed up and not travelling into the urethra properly. Should it become a problem, I will have to deliver early (because you can't continue to allow the baby to hangout with kidneys that aren't functioning properly) and he will have to be put on dialysis.
But she told us not to worry, that everything should end up just fine. So thats what I'm going to tell myself :)
I am very excited though. I don't know the first thing about raising a boy. But my fiance is SO EXCITED! He hopes that we end up raising a linebacker who likes to golf. I have already gone shopping with my mom today for clothing and nursery items.
Ok, thats it
