ok so i've been brushing up on my rock history, and tonight was vines night.

apparently they're not allowed to do any major tours anymore because craig nicholls has asbergers syndrome. also they lost their bassist a while ago who consequently joined youth group. just a taste of vines trivia for the folks playing at home ( Read more... )

the vines, never really liked then, but i do feel sorry for them considering how much a victim of the hype factory they were/are.
i really don't know where i stand on the smashing of instruments... i mean, the whole way through that, i had my fingers crossed and kept repeating "oh, please throw the guitar into the drumkit and then roll over a couch, please throw the guitar into the drumkit and then roll over a couch", and when he did, it did make me go all "awwwwwww."
but then again, that's some really damn expensive stuff they're trashing there in the name of much-hyped-rock-n-roll, and... i mean... it's not really shocking and confronting to smash instruments if it was the bands my dad listened to pioneered the trend. and what about the starving musical genius' in africa that could really use a guitar? (i'm being serious here.) but then again, bright eyes smash their instruments and it's become physically impossible for me to critisize them ( ... )

Yeah I'm just going to pretend I watched that, given my dialup status and my computer's irrational dislike of anything that involved moving images.
Instrument smashing you say, thom? Clearly a waste of a good instrument.

nice graph tom. speaking of graphs, i saw demetri martin on the daily show after you told me to watch on youtube. very funny. and yes, much funnier when he does it.

i always kinda liked the vines. back in year 10 when it was cool. but listening to some of their stuff last night they were terrible live. plus they only really had two songs which got them anywhere. so yeah, the vines.. as shaun micallef would say, "into the bin!" (insert wip cracking here)

it's like watching a 3 year old, on acid

purdy offers a resounding "pfft" ...although Craig does wear a green cardigan sometimes and that earns him points in my book...

The Vines were the mystery act at Splendour.
We were getting drunk and missed them. Oops.
