I have to start by saying I'm not a Merlinfic fan. I love the original story but find the current tv drama a little young for me but the summary of this pulled me in and I read it..... and I loved it.

It made me cry and it made me smile and it made me sob heartbroken both when Arthur went into the broken tower and his knights tried to hold him back and again when he put the knife of Merlins' heart, and his knights tried to take on the burden. I cried like a babe all through that scene.

It was absolutely briliant so thank you thank you thank you. Great entertainment.

Wow! What a powerful comment ... if I managed to get someone who is not even into Merlin fandom to read and react so strongly to my story, I really must have pushed the right buttons. LOL!

I agree with you about the "young" target audience of the BBC Merlin show. I too wish it were aimed at a slightly older audience. Although I appreciate the rather "old fashioned" non-graphic nature of the violence depicted on the show (which I find somewhat refreshing) I do think targeting an older audience would allow them to more deeply explore some of the most interesting themes in the show. Too often, they tend to gloss over the problematic issues, or simply press the handy-dandy reset button when things get complicated. Still, there is enough in the show that I adore to keep me coming back - and fanfiction can certainly target those more adult themes (and I don't just mean the sex.) *wink*

Again, thank you for the lovely feedback! I appreciate you being willing to read something outside your usual genre!

In a day and age I would have applauded the young having a good show to watch but now adays the young are no longer restricted, they watch any and all, so it seems a shame to restrict yourself so. *shrugs ( ... )
