Victory?

With the new ruling in the New Jersey Supreme court I can't help but be a little more optimistic towards the future of the GLBT community. I also know this fact as well. In order for thing like this to continue we need to be serious around this time of years. November elections are right around the corner. As GLBT people we need to find our allies ( Read more... )

Well you have one more voter to support gay rights. My little cousin got her first absentee ballot form in the mail. Despite my extended family being conservative, she followed in my footsteps, and believes in you'all having the same rights as us.

even neglecting a vote (if one doesn't have the right to vote), a voice counts for quite a bit. There are campaigns out there that want nothing other than your "voice." Making a ruckus does a lot in the democratic process, it's why we have media and so many ways to communicate to make that voice heard.

you're very right. This is why i am also a big advocate of petitions and protests. They are also ways to get your opinions heard and state a lot of the same things. Thanks for pointing that out.

you made a good point about actually DOING it, actually voting. The voter registration efforts for folks our age were profound, however getting us to the polls is a totally different thing. We're lazy, especially our generation, and it's speculated that a lot of places (like Iowa) would have turned out differently had voters turned out in the same proportion that voters were registered.
