In Which Sam Finds Comfort Elsewhere...

He knew sooner or later that the hospital would notice the missing pills. Taking them from Ellen was a disaster waiting to happen and Sam just couldn't deal anymore. So he started to take long walks with Ford in the afternoon, going around a street corner that Sam knew far too well and it was the place he had sworn he would never return to ( Read more... )

When Richie told her that Sam had paid him a visit, she had to say -- she was pleasantly surprised. Last she'd heard, Sam had set himself up with a shiny new apple pie life. Pretty little blond with a badge and a dog -- it was enough to make her want to puke.

But for some reason, Sam was coming back, and that meant that there was still room for her to suck her favorite Winchester in like a puppy to a chew toy. She waited for him to make a few more buys, just to make sure he was serious, before she told Richie that she would take his corner for the day. And hopefully Sam would take the bait.

She scratched slightly at a spot on the back of her shoulder as she waited, starting to feel the familiar need boiling up in the pit of her stomach, but she waited. A high was better shared after all, and she knew exactly who she wanted to share it with.

He was out of pills and didn't even bother taking Ford on a walk this time to get them. The dog was starting to get neglected as Sam sat at home at night just staring at the television and letting the pills dull him to the world.

His visits to the hospital were becoming fewer because he couldn't take it anymore, just staring down at her unmoving form. Watching as her skin paled and she got thinner from her unending sleep.

His fingers were already pulling out the money for his pills when he looked up and saw her and he stopped. Right in the middle of the sidewalk looking at her and knowing that he couldn't go any further. Shaking his head he just turned and started to walk away to look for someone else... anyone else.

"Hey -- wait!"

She jogged ahead of him -- her legs were shorter but she could still move pretty fast -- curving so that she was facing him, and looking up at him with a half a smile. "Where ya goin', big guy?"

"I'm obviously in the wrong place." He tried to move past her, finding a safe place he could escape to.
