In Which Sam spends a birthday with Dean

Sam remembered how it had once been. Birthdays were about cake and ice cream, a few presents and sitting in front of the television while waiting for Dad to come back from work. Dean was planning on doing nothing for his birthday. In fact, Dean was planning on pretending his birthday wasn't happening, but apparently, there were some that felt otherwise. He'd gotten a few happy birthday phone calls that he hadn't returned, but other than that, it was just him, the TV and some Sunday afternoon football.

When there was a knock on the door, he didn't even bother getting up, just shifted on the couch and shouting towards the door. "It's open!"

Sam shook his head and walked in, closing the door behind him. "You realize someone could just walk on in and take all your stuff, right?" Sam pointed out with a raised eyebrow as he looked at his brother on the couch.

Dean looked up at his brother with a smirk, before pointing to the nine millimeter and badge sitting on the coffee table. "That's what are for. 'Sides, anyone who wants to steal shit doesn't knock."
