Who in the HELL puts a hold on a CHILDRENS BOOK!

Damn them.  Now I have to dig it out of the piles of books, toys, and other crap that is my house, and return it to the library instead of getting my renewals done on-line.  Late fees ticking up and up.

Did you hear that they released the first couple seasons of Sesame Street on DVD? Apparently Cookie Monster attempts to smoke, then eats, a pipe, among other thoroughly-incorrect-for-the-modern-era things.

The DVDs are labeled as NOT SUITABLE FOR TODAY'S PRESCHOOLER. I'm surprised they haven't slapped a similar label on Curious George.

Yes, I've bought the first two volumes of "Sesame Street Old School", the "best of" the first 6 seasons. Great stuff. Love the children playing around the construction site: "Lets go OVER the board with the rusty nails sticking out of it!"

That is one of my favorite bits of the released Sesame Street.

The 2 and 3 year old that we've shown it to both love it.

I have kept Curious George out of our house so far (mainly because my childhood memories of the books are that they were pretty creepy.) But I am sure I make many a parent unhappy with the 20+ holds I put on per week for books for Lily. We've exhausted the collection of our local branch, so it's mainly requests for titles I think she'd enjoy from other branches (or that poor unfortunate families have already checked out.)

Bah! A Pox on you P! May the X-Files movie not live up to your expectations!

Tommy isn't _quite_ reading on his own, so he enjoys books with characters he knows so he can browse the pictures. So arriving at the library is just a matter of randomly grabbing things that look good on the cover (after prying them away with their 3-limit videos.) Grabbing the CG was just a matter of dumb luck, I'd have grabbed any old CG at the time.
