i got home from chicago on friday. it was a wonderful three days. i forgot my digital camera, so a written narration is
tuesday.
we departed in the morning, stopping at madison to lunch with my sister. ella's is such a crazy, disgusting, deep-fried joint, but so delightful at the same time. we hit some traffic once we got to kennedy expressway but we made it in a record 6.5 hours. we went to the fireside bowl friday night to see a random show as both of the modest mouse shows were cancelled. it was boring and uneventful, but we totally saw bob nanna there! weird. i also saw sethp from LnC in some local music publication. uberweird. before the first set, mallory revealed jason's number which i was sure i had lost. i called him and he had no idea who i was. but that just made it all the more fun!
wednesday.
claudia took her placement tests at columbia. timing was unfortunate, so we didn't get to the art institute. we got lunch at this amazing sandwich place on state and jason called shortly thereafter. there was a bit of nervousness prior to meeting him at the library, but things were swell! he took us all sorts of places. we went to a record shop and befriended a beautiful mos def-lookalike who was exceptionally helpful and complimentary. lovely. we went to halsted, boys' town... and then blue man group, which was nothing i expected and entirely awesome. not really music-wise, but it was avant-garde and a bit adbusters-esque. the comedy bits were a bit dorky and drawn out, but overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. jason's friend jeremy came along: "no, becca, you just think he's great." jason expressed a desire to hang out with us the following day several times and plans were made to meet at his stop the next morning.
thursday.
we met with jason and headed downtown with the intent of getting to shedd and the miracle mile. we stopped at columbia so both jason and claudia could attempt to get some shit sorted out. jason successfully put up with not one but two days of following us through shopping mayhem and the ultimate "love eyes game". we had plans to go to a comedy club but it sold out... sufficed with going back to jason's apartment where his foxy roommate peter had plans to watch the sox game. turned into a night of mexican delivery, premature conking out, mandy moore on conan, and frequent references to jason's king-sized bed.
we came home friday afternoon, made it back in the same record time. it was scads of fun and, of course, expectedly hilarious at times. i'm excited to spend weekends in chicago once semester starts.
speaking of which, i start a month from yesterday. i can't say i'm not excited because the aspect of a dramatic change is sounding really fucking great right about now. but i'm a little wary about everything yet. and i'm already starting to miss... to miss. :(
i went to the twins game with chris yesterday and we won! yay, it's much more fun when that happens.
today was boring and worthless.
tomorrow i'm going actually going to be productive and then go out to tara's cabin. i think.
also, i quit my job. the day after marypat did. both were pretty abrupt. i also fucked up the co-op's order. i feel so much better now, knowing i won't have to put up with donna's whiney, condescending bullshit.
i'm watching THE RESTAURANT and i can't take my eyes off of the tv. so gimmick-y but wonderful. i love the staff drama already!.
mmhmm.
