That's the link to the article and photos of the mountain south of my town. I don't think the east end of the mountain has burned in my lifetime, and I'm 25. I know the west half of the mountain burned to nothing about six years

Thanks. The smoke is just a huge plume, it looks like a bomb or something. I think it might be raining at the moment, but that's at the college. The weather could be totally different over by the fire.

sounds like it needs to be burned off, but out of control burning is bad. here's hoping for good weather - rain and cool - to help the firefighters up there.

Yeah, it really does need it. When the west end burned, I was wondering when the east end of the mountain would burn. I don't know if and/or when the last time the underbrush was cleaned out was, not to mention we have the beetles here that kill trees and it's been a very dry summer.
