I’m sorry I disappeared off the face of the LJ-verse for so long, it’s 2nd Year and after 4 months of blissful vegetation, a new semester took some getting used to ugh. But anyway, ON TO THE HAPPENINGNESS.

YOG - I was in and out of the Olympic Village every other day and taking the purple buses and attended several competitions; I assure you that Russians were extremely easy to find. They sang very loudly on the bus and once, while I was watching gymnastics, this guy plopped down next to me and changed into a Russian jersey, srsly.

aah, but that is because you had access to the village see. but i, miserable commoner that i am, did not. and i didn't get to watch the competitions live sadly :(

...... man, if i'd been you, i would've ripped the jersey right off him. .... or maybe not, since i would feel very bad about traumatising a russian.

Well you didn't even have to go into the Village itself, the McDonald's in NTU was full of them, most famously Yelena Isinbayeva whom everyone mobbed for her autograph while she was queuing for her meal... And I did recall some kids from, um, some Eastern European country, head out downtown for a spot of partying one evening. Ah well only people who did bother about the Youth Olympics noticed this sort of thing, to the overwhelming majority of Singaporeans I guess it was all just a big inconvenience in our lives.

but staking the McDonald's out every day seems quite....... hm. ...actually, i think if not for the fact that my term had started, i probably would've done exactly that. my only consolation was when i saw athletes wandering around suntec whenever i went there hahaha, they have such wonderful uniforms sob TAT

i didn't feel like the YOG was a huge inconvenience though, i just remember getting extremely excited and incoherent whenever i saw an athlete or bus pass by :T what did you think of the whole thing?

how exciting is looking at costumes on mannequins compared to running around in the olympic village ogling hot guys getting to know people from all around the world??

it was quite harrowing getting that picture, i still feel bad about interrupting his zen moment with the flowers hahaha;;;
