I've got to that stage by now, though actually without seeing the film yet. I'm contemplating simply not bothering to go and see it now, because I really don't care enough about Jack, Will and Liz to sit through 2 and a half hours of stunts and barnacles, and I'm too tired to care about James any more either.

*blows your belly trying to generate some bubbles*

I'm in a bit of a weird state...I enjoyed watching it, I truly did...but with every passing second, some things (especially James) bug me more and more.

I'm having the same reaction simply at reading the recs (and I've not yet seen the film...).
James 2 is not James 1 and never will be. Period.
I will keep on writing my Gillington fics and stick to my beloved POTC1 naval characters, because I like to do it, but I'm not sure any more this makes me still a POTC fan according to the canonical meaning of the term.

I don't watch much American TV, but there was one fellow in one show that really caught my eye. I can't remember his name, but he's a fellow in "Friends," who whenever some foot-in-mouth goes on, he snaps his fingers and says, "never happened," and carries on like it didn't. After the massive trauma of the DC between-Crisis bullshit and the even more massive trauma of the CSI Season 6 finale, I think snapping your fingers and declaring it never happened is the best route to take when TPTB just don't understand their creations.

It never happened, love. James is saving the world from Pet and her husband, Sparrow is seeing the light, and Will is dead. Lalalala to anyone who says different -- or, rather, says Norrie isn't noble.
