This is wonderful, if sad. I particularly loved this paragraph.
One voice chatters to them of freedom, gaiety and the opportune moment. The other uses more measured tones to tell them about self-discipline, and sacrifice. But they speak together when they teach the twins about courage, and honor, and the sea.
Takes a lot to make me tear up, and tear up I did - not so much for the sense of loss, but for the nobility of their combined endeavor and the sense of right in having them accompany each other into Eternity, and into the lives of their namesakes.
This sent shivers down my spine and made my eyes prickle with tears. A touching and wonderful fic. I, too, love this line: But they speak together when they teach the twins about courage, and honor, and the sea.
