Okay, I'll agree that the whole deal is shady, but it stops there.
The Lexmark printer cartridges, while crappy of them, is within their rights. The agreement basically makes a claim that they still own them and you're just renting them. Wouldn't it then also be logical that it is THEIR duty to dispose/recycle them? Besides, you don't have to buy Lexmark brand ink cartridges anyway. I rarely do. Usually we buy the off brand that's just as good and doesn't care if you refill them. There's not one out for that particular printer yet, wait a few months. OR DON'T BUY A LEXMARK PRINTER.
As for the Honda deal, tough luck, that's the way it is. Welcome to commercialism. If we decided to make our land 'Chevy Only' and everyone else would have to walk from the side of the road, that's just the way it is. Now, it would be other's people's choices to 1)stop visiting us 2) stop delivering to us 3) refuse to work on the house etc, but part of the beauty of having personal property is to make it personalIt's funny, though, the first half of this

Lexmark sucks balls anyhow... if you MUST buy Lexmark carts for ink, modify the EULA by crossing out the parts you don't like, modifying it, initialing it, and then use it that way. You are not REQUIRED to agree to their EULA. (Ok, I grant that this is a bit peddantic, and probably wouldn't hold up in Court without a REALLY good lawyer, or a decent Judge, but it's fun)
I've owned three Lexmark printers, they all sucked ass. I've owned HP, and while I'm not happy with all HP things, I like their printers (at least the Lasers, inkjets of all sorts really suck unless you print a LOT)
Besides, you don't have to buy Lexmark brand ink cartridges anyway. I rarely do.
You don't have to buy Lexmark printers, but if this idea catches on, it's conceivable that the other printer manufacturers will follow suit. Then what will you do?
Every lock down will find a counter. That is human nature. Eventually, this will become pervasive enough that the mass of sheeple will wake up enough to fight it.
Although by then the Patriot Act will reach its final form and anyone trying to stand up for anything will be labled Terrorist...
