the writtings of paul as well as other things in the bible have been known to be mistranslated. the greek words he uses that were translated into english that appear to say things regarding homosexuality don't actually mention it, different greek word = different meaning. also the things about paul and regarding women. it's mainly the guy was a man of his times, women in the roman ages and in his jewish culture were regarded as property and held a class pretty shitty in comparison to men, so paul had issues of how he said things due to this cultural belief which he still believed in

I'm not disagreeing with when and why he said those things. He was in the norm politically, sociologically and historically. (And in some ways, progressive.)

It was more like I was combating the people in Cali that are using him to defend Prop 8.

He's not God and won't be so please stop saying, "God says" when they really mean Paul said.

ahh, got it, yep, that's very true.

I also get annoyed when people quote the old testament as being anti gay, and then they fail to realize that most people of jewish faith are of with homosexuals and in fact will marry gays and lesbians in a synagogue. I think it's pretty crazy that most christians don't notice this, I mean, the jewish faith is the one that started christianity

Yeah, I have wondered at that on occasion--how it seems that so many time a bible thumper with talk as though he or she alone knows the Will of Almighty God. Usually I think of this when they're speaking on abortion, but sometimes I think of it in reference to homosexuality too ( ... )

P.S. The above was written hastily and I did not have time to edit. In summary: I agree and support your position (or at least I think I do) although my emphasis is not the same.
