Okay people.  Get it through your thick skulls...  Living in Utah does not always equate to being Mormon.  Yes, I was born and raised in Utah.  And no, I'm not Mormon.  I'm sick of people assuming that.  I'm sick of ignorant people thinking that's the only religion out here ( Read more... )

How frustrating! I'm so sorry you get that all the time. Being a Utah implant (from Michigan), I know how that can be, even though I'm LDS. It's SO different here, and I hate myself because I can feel that whole wondering-if-people-are-LDS thing wearing off on me...I'm always curious. But IT DOESN'T MATTER! Back home, I never cared. We were the only family in town that was LDS (and within a 60 mile radius) and I just lived my life and never tried converting. People out here can be such snotbags, you know? I've been struggling a lot with guilt (I feel like people are so judging...I talked to my bishop about it yesterday and he said basically they're all lame and I need to live my own life). I also struggle a lot with having close friends out here. I feel like a lot of the people here are so self absorbed...of course that's a blanket statement, but I know for 100% sure that I feel so so so much more comfortable around non-members because I can be myself and love them the way I love every human being ( ... )

Exactly. I was just having a moment where I needed to let off some steam. I love my friends, and I love Utah. But sometimes, it's overwhelming. And I think the best way to keep my respect while still keep my sanity is to write about it.
