Aw that's sad. I admit I became a fan later because I wanted to see what ONTD was so obsessed over so I watched the movie then read the books. I think some people who bash it just take it too seriously. Wasn't it originally geared towards adolescents? I could be wrong. But yeah the movie was cheesy but I think it was fun and entertaining. I loved it. And yeah the last book is awful. & I don't really like the other 2 bc I don't like the werewolf story line. But anticipating what will happen next was fun while I was reading the series.
Did you like the books after watching the movie more or less (except BD of course?) :P just curious because I obviously did it the other way around.
I'm not sure if it was geared towards an older audience, I personally think it's perceived differently by younger readers because at that age what do you really know about love?
I watched the movie online, it was better than I expected, but then again my expectations were pretty low XD I liked the feel of the film and the chemistry between them was there. I def. need to buy/see it in the cinema and watch a non pixely version so I can really see the movie :P
I recommend The Host by Stephenie too, I think it's better than Twilight!
Well I love the first book. & after reading I didn't like that they didn't develop the siblings characters more.& I liked reading how Bella/Edward's relationship first started out and the movie just gave me a visual. But the next two books disappointed me. In New Moon, Bella whined too much about Jacob. I mean if someone kept telling me that they didn't want to talk to me I would be like fine and move on no matter what their reasons were. & I don't see how she's so accepting of it. The werewolves in the bk. are huge. I would've been terrified. & she was stupid to go to Volterra imo. I wouldn't have. If it wasn't a PG rated book she probably would've been killed. Eclipse was better but again the werewolf thing threw me off. I do love Edward though. Lots of critcs of Twilight say he's controlling and not ideal. But I see it as he's a vampire not a potential boyfriend. He's not real and his personality shouldn't be taken so seriously as it is by some people.
I agree about liking the story and not necessarily the writing. I liked New Moon, I think I'm one of few who does. Maybe because it made me cry or maybe because I'm morbis *shurgs* ;^_^
I agree about the Edward bashing, he's not real!! :P
ahahaha i have the icon i'm posting with is called "Twilight Shame".
There's a lot of things I like about the series, but a lot of things I don't. I consider myself a hesitant fan because I do like the story (not so much the writing), but I can't bring myself to like it without making it fun at it aswell.
I'll admit, I thought the movie was terrible in an amazing sort of way XD
I totally understand what you're saying. But I have to admit, I became a fan after the movie was anounced to come out. I live in Belgium and I didn't know the books, they didn't even come out here before about 6-7 months ago. And I got familiar with Twilight because Paramore was doing two songs on the soundtrack for the movie. And I was like, let's google it. And I read the summary of the books and I really loved the story. So about two weeks before I went to see the movie, I ordered the 4 books. Since I had no idea they were here too. And I dragged my two best friends into this and now they all ordered the books (before we went to see the movie). A week ago I discovered there were Dutch versions of the books in stores. It was sold out EVERYWHERE I finally found one, the first one, the movie edition, which is the exact same story only with movie poster as cover
( ... )
yes I've heard this from a lot of people. I mean I became a fan of Supernatural WAY after all the hardcore fans and I still have that same love for it.
I bought the first book in Italy (SUCH A GEEK!) and I can kind of understand most of it (helped largely by the fact that I've read Twilight twice now) It's great that the books are now globally available, that means more fans and hopefully more fanrt! Wasn't too sure about Rob (spunk lol) playing Edward at first but the sneak previews released way back when were pretty cool. Overall the film wasn't bad at all :)
