After a particularly annoying week of flake-out students, I drafted a studio policy sheet that outlines my cancellation policy (before that I just told everyone verbally), and it's worked great. It is so frustrating when voice students cancel at the last minute. This fall I made a studio policy sheet and have been handing it out to all new and returning students. It has been such a lovely summer here on the east coast this year. It has stayed unusually mild, yet warm and comfortable all day and into the night. Mosquitoes haven't been too bad either, and we've had tons of lightning bugs. I am growing patio tomatoes this year. Three are hanging upside down in planters, and two are in pots on the ground. They all seem to be doing OK so far- much better than when I tried growing them in pots in Berkeley.
