Love wasn’t something that was taught at Manticore. It was just something that would get in the way of a soldier’s mission. Her big brother, Zack, used to say something about it all being a sentimental lie. But he wasn’t as prone to the real world as she was. There were many things she’d learned out there. How to take care of herself… how to live on her own… but love… that just crept right up on her.
She didn’t truly understand love. Not until Alec anyways. Seeing him so worked up over a girl. It was obvious that unlike the women he catted around with that he loved her. She doesn’t tell him, though she thinks he knows, that she saw him that night sitting beside Rachel’s bed. Through her feline senses she could tell just how much he’d loved the girl that laid there dying.
It wasn’t until sometime after that she realized that she, herself, was in love. That the one person she had feelings for was Logan Cale. The very man she’d stolen from and now the very man she helped when it came to the screwed up things in the world. So if asked… her love belonged to Logan.
[Locked]But not her heart. That… that, unfortunately for Logan, belonged to her breeding partner. Belonged to someone whom she’d pushed away and fought with from the very day she met him. But he doesn’t need to know that. If only because he reminded her so much of Ben… minus the crazy part. That was okay though… Alec didn’t need to know.
