Did they know either of his brothers already? Dori wouldn't be so bad, but Nori had a Past that sometimes caught up with him and not always in a good way.

It did. Him being related to Nori was a good thing for once!

Bilbo strikes me as either a professor or a writer. Or just able to live off his inheritance from his parents.
