[Voice // Action] 004: Hole

Jul 06, 2010 00:47

[Cat appears in the book's little window looking properly rumpled as only a rail-thin tomcat of a cat can look and says in a short feline hiss:] I've heard tales with lives of nine times nine, but I've never been one to test that theory. A little warning would have been nice.

I'm afraid you hardly get any warning for anything that happens around here.

Has curiosity killed the cat?

After a fashion. Armored ants are one thing when sizes are relative to incisors, but those clanking folk--nothing of the army about them. Kidnapping a cat. Pff!

So the droids got you, hmm? Yes, they certainly appear without warning, and resistance would seem to be impossible.

Now, what was that about a helping hand?

[There's a brief hesitation because, you see, Cat's a cat, and if there's one thing a cat doesn't like, it's any sort of mussing about with its dignity. He blinks glowing yellow-green eyes at Jay for a moment in that solemn way cats have before his smile ever-present smile turns rueful]

Fuss and feathers--they're not exactly to my taste. Aprons and skirts aren't particularly to my taste, and this isn't either. [he flicks his tail so that the big fluffy bow is prominently displayed]

Or I to you. It's much the same to me, and I suppose speed is the better part of the equation now, isn't it?

[he glances around]

After all, surprise surprise if you could find me. Stuck in a tree and a tail wrapped up tight... the Malnosso have the sense of a hatter if you ask me.

Where might a cat find you?

Uh... I didn't really get most of that, but you need help, right?

Hrmmm prose. Never was any good at it, if you understand me. Suffice to say, what is the Outside coming to? Kidnapping a cat indeed. Pff!

But if it's no trouble... [he waves his tail at the book] Cats have claws but they really can only take you so far.

[He was about to comment about that kidnapping comment, but then he finally understands what's going on.]

Oh! You wanna rip off your own tail!? It's no wonder your claws can't go that far! [Oh yeah, he's good at this.]

[Cat doesn't say anything for a moment and his expression is that of the most supreme disdain which only a cat can really pull off.]

A refreshing sight I'd be then, wouldn't I? No. One can't help being mad, not in Wonderland and not Out, but silly has well worn off many ages past. I have a care to keeping it the way it is. It's this [and here he flicks a claw at the ribbon, fraying it just the slightest] that I could most certainly do without.
