Author's Notes: Inspired by the opening two minutes or so of guitar in "Wings for Marie (Part 1)" by Tool.
Hands grasped with a frenzy to match the movements of their bodies, purchase hard to find on skin glossed by sweat. Mouths were too busy feeding upon each other to formulate words and in truth, words were no longer needed. One knew the other as they knew themselves. Eyes of the warmest chocolate could read liquid sapphires with surprising ease, having been granted the key to unlock their secrets. Bitten nails dug into flesh as those eyes met and held the way their hands tried to, clinging to the other as they fell beneath the waves of euphoria. It was the two of them against the world, or so it felt in such private moments. Who could understand the fire that burned between them but themselves? At times even they didn't. They could only hold tight, one breath pushing out as the other drew in, promises passing under heavy lids and dark lashes.
Both could stand strong and whole apart, but it was together that their souls truly sang.
'You are the only one for me, you are my calm from the storm.'
'Let me save you, or let us fall together.'
Heartbeats slowed in tandem with breathing, a beat felt softly against palms as fingers laced. If the world could not pull them apart, sleep stood no chance of it.
