I'd like to give the medics prior warning; I'll be bringing an injured man to Medical Island soon. Injuries include a broken arm, severe abrasions, and what I suspect will soon be some spectacular bruising

I did catch him, Aurora; he's the one I brought to the medics.
Until very recently, the guards hadn't been responsible for stopping crime in the greater Sphere. As we work on covering more area, I hope that we can become more effective.
I apologize; it is difficult to make that connection with the way you wrote your entry.
The growing power of the guards without any checks or balances, for one. There is a great potential for an abuse of power or an uprising. And I do not approve of Trust taking up Drake's position; he is stubbornly naive and temperamental, traits that do not make one an effective leader.
It's true, there is no form of government here. However, I believe this decision was made in response to the fact that people don't feel safe, and want the Guard to take more of a role in protecting people.
I think it's too early to count Trust out. He's inexperienced, but he's shown himself willing to take advice. And I think cooler heads within the Guard can help balance out his temper.
While I do not disapprove of such protective measures, I still have my reservations. As you said, we have no government; if the guard decided to take control, there would be no authority to stop them. Having people who were not unanimously voted into this position by the residents of Edensphere makes me weary.
That is not the case. I voiced my concerns to him, and all he did was disregard them and offer only violence as solutions. His behavior was completely unacceptable.
I can understand that. But if the guard does become corrupt, then the people of the Sphere will just have to do something about it. Not everyone with combat or tactical experience can or will join the Guard; personally, I would rather just keep running my stall.
...I can imagine how that conversation must have gone. Aurora, when you speak to people, your tone is frequently condescending and combative, which makes people unwilling to listen to you, no matter how valid your points may be.
I've made several suggestions to Trust and he agreed to them without any argument; I believe he'll continue to do so in the future, whether it's me or someone else.
It shouldn't be the responsibility of the people to monitor the guards; having corruption in the first place is completely unacceptable. I wonder, at this point, if they should be disbanded, or at least limited to the Hall of Beginnings.
I was being as diplomatic and logical as possible. He took up hostile language first, and even then I tried to keep a level head. I am aware that my manner of speaking is not normal, and I tried to compensate for that because of how important the discussion was. You can read it yourself if you do not believe me.
Regardless of that, as leader of the guard he should expect people to come to him with far more harshness that I am able to muster and still be willing to hear out their complaints. That he listened to a member of the guard and yet ignored a citizen speaks of favorism and possible corruption.
Aurora, first of all, I think it's entirely too early for you to be this worked up about the Guard. We've yet to even begin implementing the changes requested by people--requests which, may I remind you, were for the most part prompted by your very public and very messy death.
Trust didn't ignore you; you may not have liked his answer or felt it was complete, but he did answer you. From what I read, Trust read your words as accusing him of being dishonest. No one would take that well, especially from someone they don't know. I believe you're too quick to judge from one exchange in the journals.
You seem to want guarantees that there will never be any corruption in the Guard. All I can tell you is that I will do everything in my power to keep that from happening, and I trust most of the others to do so as well. There are those I don't know very well yet, but I refuse to make that judgment about them without more information.

I am concerned over the decision to make Trust the acting captain.
