I haven't been introduced to the pole. It's difficult for me to get to the Friday night swim sessions. What direction should you look to see it?

Good write-up, by the way.

Do you want to go for a swim at Porty some other time? I think you can use the changing rooms at the swimming pool at any time, not just Friday night. I'd be up for trying another night (or sometime at the weekend).

The pole is to your right when you stand outside the baths. Look towards the power station and to the right of that is a grey spoil heap. Somewhere that way is 'the pole', should be able to see it unless it's stormy. It's 'about' a km out i've been told. If you swim from the first gryone (with the yellow pole) all the way to your right and reach the end of the beach (third gryone, which is more or less washed away) AND back, that is 'about' a mile.

Sounds like an awesome adventure and fun to read. The sea is always too cold for me though so I think I'll stick to climbing xD
