your warning is well appreciated - I have even trouble seeing whole chickens cooked up as a meal - the only animal I don't have trouble with is fish, partly because my nutritionist suggested I eat fish for more protein in my diet (darn these post-menopausal years; they affect us in some surprising ways) and partly because I can pretend a filet is a slab of tofu - so I will gladly stay away from pages 50 to 59 - there might be a new English saying coming from your experience - an unpleasant shock can now be called a "page 50" - what do you think?

I love it! I actually LOL'd with glee at the idea. So be it; from now on, an unpleasant shock is a "page 50"!

There is an Edible Buffalo as well. A recent issue had a picture on the cover of a semi-famous local chef who champions the locavore movement in what he produces. The actual cover showed him with a leg of a pig hoisted over his shoulder. The rejected version had him face-to-face with the hog's head. They realized it would never fly with most people ( ... )

Yes, I agree; your comment is related to the original post. Whatever we eat, I think it's important that we remember what we are doing, and that we support those who produce our food with compassion and with care for the environment.
