Germany

Jun 19, 2005 15:10

Hey everyone, I'm updating from Germany. I can't get on the computer very often so I might not update more than once or twice more. So therefore I'm going to bore you all with long entries about how everythings going. Because I can. Things have been onteresting so far so yea. Here goes.

June 14-15 the flight(s)

Okay! So I got at the airport when I was supposed to. I actually dropped my uniform off at the school during the morning, I hope Brianna or whoever turned it in for me. THANKN YOU! I have been forgetting to bring it in.
Annyways, like I said, I was there on time. Then I saw trevor and my family and his sat down and talked for a while.... oi. It was interesting. Trevor is a good kid, and we actually got along, but our parents... hmm... yea. So around 1:30 we were supposed to go to the gate, my mother didn't cry suprisingly, and security was funny. I didn't have to take off my shoes because they were flip flops, but I did have to take off my hat, my belt, my ring and anything with metal, and they checked my phone to make sure it was real. hehe...
Then we got to the gate, A3, and sat there until 2:16 when we boarded. During that time, I talke to Trevor, Julianna and Kelly, who turned out to be a friend(?) of heathers. It was crazy. I guess she was a friend of Heahter's cousin and met heather not that long ago. Is that right heather?
So we were talking, got on the plane, sat down, then 15 mihnutes later were told to get OFF the plane. I'm not really sure why we had to, other than weather problems, since it did rain pretty good after we got back in the airport, but onoly fr like....10 minutes. And we waited... adn waited...and waited..... around an hour or so. Alittle more I think. Then, we boarded again, and were told that we boarded to early and the Detroit ground control was stupid.... and they didn't know what they were doing. I love that flöight attendant. She was funny. "In case of a decrease in pressure, the masks will fall from the ceiling, and after you have finished screaming, place the mask over your mouth and nose and...." Beautiful. The plane made me kinda nervous, it was small and not clean. But we were only in it for like, and hour and a half after take off so yea.
Continuing the story, we headed for the runway, but turns out that even though we boarded too early and waited 20-40 (not really sure) minutes, the runway was closed............yea. No one really knew why but whatever...... It was sucky. When we finally took off I think we were... what... 2 hours off schedule? At least.
Of cours that had consequennces. We got to Washington to take our international flight, and yea........ that flight had taken off at 5:15.... we arrived at 6:20. No one was there to tell us what to do, like they were supposed to, so it was Julianna, Me, and two other girls going up to service desks, calling people and figuring out what to do. So we got on an airport bus and headed for the C gates. We got off and went in, walking from gate C28 to C4... which is a long way let me tell you..... because that is where the next flight to frankfurt would be taking off from. Welll, the lady there was rude and wouldn't help us at all, "sorry I can't get involved.... go to the service desk at C22.... I can't get involved." It's not like we were carrying a dead body or something.
So we walked allllllllll the way back to gate C22...... it's a long way, especially when you're lugign averything except for your big suitcase.
Got to the service desk and what did we find? A hell of a long line. So we settled in to wait. and wait...
Well, eventually the people behind the desk took pity on us and sent us back to gate C4 and told us that before the plane came in, we would have our old boarding passes exchanged there. So, relieved anfd exhausted froim dragging our stuff around, we headed BACK to C4..... and we decided to split into small groups since we had to wait until 9:30.... it was 7:00..... woo more delay.
My group was Julianna, Jackie and Another girl, I can't remember her name, she was pretty quiet.
Anyways, we went in search of food. bought some food at auntie annes and went back to gate C4. We sat there talking, and me and Jackie got along really well. Turns out she is in marching band too. Go figure. Julianna was really nice, and I think the other girl's name was Georgianna. I could be wrong.
So we played egyptian rat screw, talked about band, talked about school, about friends, I attempted to call people, and then we got our boarding passes exchanged.
FINALLY on the international flight, we were served dinner which actually wasn't so bad. Some mix of pasta, tortelinni(sp?), lasagna, and stuffed shell. I sat next to a kid in my group, ahh.... can't rememher his name either, but i believe he was from rochester high.
I watched Oceans 12, which wasn't so bad, on the tv on the seat in front of me. Then I attempted sleep. Yea. not happening. The guy on my right was leaning left and the guy on my left was leaning right. Oi... But I gfuess I was unconcious, if not sleeping, whiel we were over the atlantic (Oh, I hope I have that right) and don't remember it. We were over canada, then suddenly over ireland (I believe). Ah, I didn't like the flight so much. I was queasy during most of it. Not quite sure why.
Fianlly we landed in Germany, I don't remember much, I was way tired. I remember the car ride, and how I couldn't remember ANY german.....right....
Got home, ate, I fell asleep around.... 3? Then woke up around 5. I wasn't sure if it was the same day or not. heh. (It's June 15th by this time, and since here it's 6 hours later here then in america, It was about 9:00am when I got up.)
Wow this is really long. I still have more too.
After I got up, Isabell's friends, Stefan and Carlos came over, we played badmitten, I totally sucked (still dead on my feet) And They stayed until like 10, when I decided it was a good time to pass out. Sleep is so nice. Suprisingly, I haven't been affected by jet lag much, only like right now, when I feel liek I should be sleeping, but I'm not tired.

WOO FOR MORE!

June 16 First day of school

Had to wake up at 5:45 here, and suprisingly It wasn't so bad, I wasn't as tired as I thought I would eb seeing as it was like 11:45 back home. Crazy.
We take the public buses to school, two of them, and I was introduced to people. the buses here are nice, I wish the ones back home were...... just as nice. Oi.
First class was Chemistry (Chemie)...... whoa. It nearly put me to sleep. I would have slept if I could've, but I didn't want to embarrass myself right off the bat. Nope. that comes later. So yea.... by the way, Chemistry lasted an hour and a half..... Thne we had a 20 minute break (zwanzig minuten Pause (pronounced pow-sah)) and we ate snacks we brought along. After the break we had french (französich) for another hour and a half. Another Pause, then math (Mathe). Turned out we had no math, seeing as how the teacher didn't show, so we had forty five minutes more of a break. I helped Isabell and Anna (Isabell's best friend) with english (Englisch). Then we had art! WOO! I sat there and................ did nothing. Like in everyother class. After art, which ended at one, school was over. Again, I think to myself, hah, It's like 7am back home. Also, the German's use a twenty four hour clock here so yea, it's pretty cool. I like it.
then we took the bus home, we both did english homework, mine was reading flatland.... well, picking up the book, reading the back, putting it down and sleeping. heh. I don't really have to start it until july, but I do want to get it over with. After that we went to the sotre, got food, I couldn't find ranch, and came home. We watched a movie and then went to sleep. The day was nice, I'm happy we didn't do much. I was exhausted from not doing anything in school.

June 17th second day of school and a party

oi.... so much to write. and hour and a half of biology, break, chemistry for 45 minutes (p.s. one school hour is 45 minutes), then english. They were taking a two hour test, and I was curious what it was about so I decided to take the test. geez. It's like something we would get in our english class. Analyze this, what do you think of this, would you do this..... they had to analyze a philosophy. Geez. I took it, finished it pretty quick, and I felt so self concious since I ahd to sit in the front of the room so no one could read my paper. Ah... I felt like everyone was staring.
They tok the test throughout to next break, and I sat there reading. They kept writing their test halfway into the next class, german, and so when they were finished, they were pretty crazy in the german class. Oh yea, forgot to mention, you are always with the same people during every class and in normal classes (not art or science) the teachers move, not the students. Fun stuff. I didn't have to get up all that much.
Anyways, the german teacher, once everyone was finished and in the class again, she asked me "Verstehst du deustch?" .... means Do you understand german? I had the urge to be my sarcastic self and answer no, of course not, but I decided that was...... a bad idea. I answered ja, and said I was staying for a month.
Ah, I was still sitting in front of the class at this time. I think my face was very red. I love how my hair can hide me sometimes.

Ok.

after school, we went to Mainz by train, and met up with Carlo, Isabell's friend, and walked around . I bought a shirt and skirt. I love the skirt. It's awesome. and the shirt.
I had fun, even though I didn't really talk. I'm not confident in my german just quite yet.
Carlo is nice. He has dreadlocks and smokes. then again....... most teenagers here smoke, as it is legal.
So after we got home, we ate, then left again, always taking to bus. PARTY!!! We went to the Kulturpalas(t), culture palace, for the students graduating. It was kind of boring at first, since I couldn't really say anything. Isabell, Carlo, Anna and I sat around talking... well they did, and I was pretty bored. Then we went inside and listened to the band, dancing and such. EVERYONE SMOKES. It's crazy. I was introduced to alot of people whose names I don't remember. This one guy I do remember, told me, "Ich möchte mit dir auf deutsch sprechen" I believe, which means "I want to speak to you in german." I felt really stupid because I couldn't hear him, and had to ask him to repaet it, and he also said it in English. I feel liek everyone thinks I'm rude and  stupid becasue I neer talk and can barely understand them, they talk SOOOO fast. Anyways, after a while of listening to the band and semi dancing (I can't dance of course), Andy offered me some of his beer, and was like "German beer is better than american beer, try it." and such. I didn't want to drink his beer and yea.... Not to mention I don't even know him. So I went and got my own. Now, for those people who would get mad at me for this..... I only drank alittle more than half. It was big bottle and I didn't want to get drunk. It was good though. I didn't relly want to dance anymore, so I went and sat by Carlo since Isabell said I could, seeing as how I didn't know anyone else. We talked for a bit, and since it was very loud, we talked pretty loud. He's a cool kid. He told me that he didn't like the music they were playing, but he likes Reggae. We sat there for a bit talking, Isabell and Anna had left because they were hot, and we followed them after 10 minutes or so. Anna went back in and me Isabell and Carlo sat and talked. I actually said a few things. Then we played table Fußball. The thing was pretty banged up and the little people were all duct taped.
I Only drank half of the beer I had gotten,Isabell drank some, then Carlo finished it off for me. It was fun. We had to leave though, since the last bus was at like 1:30 am.
whenb we got home, Carlo called Isabell's cell and then came over. I was so tired. But we laid down adn randomly talked. Then I guess I slept walked back to my room, and sid something.... Embarrassing moment I don't even remember. Woo.... Ahh...
Isabell told me that Carlo had stayed until like 4. Crazyness.

June 18 Rüdesheim and the Schlachthof

We went to Rüdesheim yesterday, fun stuff. Walked aroudn adn such. Not much else to say. then we got back, and played badmitten (It's fun, and I guess popular), and yea, hung around. We really didn't have anytrhing planned, so Isabell worked on her art project and I played badmitten with her sister. Vanessa. After a while, Isabell came out and asked me if I would like to go to the Schlacht hof, like a club, and hang out with.... da da da da daaaaaaa...... Anna, Stefan and Carlo. We went and sat outside, we didn't really want to go in, since Anna and Isabell don't like Reggae, Stefan, CArlo and Isabell don't like Metal. So Anna, Isabell and I sat outside. Stefan and Carlo came out every so often. And this guy martin, I guess he was really hyper, because I could NOt understand a SINGLE thing he said. they were rolling cigarettes, yep..... and he asked me if I wanted one I guess. Could not even understand him. Then he left, and Carlo and Stefan came back out. I was pertty bored up until then. They asked me how to say all this stuff in english, like lice and such.... so funny. then I tried to tell Stefan abotu my car, he didn't know what my car was, so I thinkn they don't have them here. Owell. I had alot of fun showing them my liscence and telling them how to say stuff.
