So I get an e-mail from the head of the department essentially scolding the faculty for not responding to an RSVP about some event at the library. Apparantly, the once-private Ulysses S. Grant foundation, a group that collects copies or originals of material relating to General Ulysses S. Grant, has decided to move its holdings to Mississippi State

Hey, I'm with you. Not terribly surprised, though. If I'm remembering the laws passed at the end of last year right, we here in Georgia basically had to pay to have a month of history.

First: I adamantly sympathize with you. Grant is not a name trafficked fondly amongst my clan.

But:
#1, the Japanese absolutely did put an atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima.
#2, the one thing I always offer in Grant's defense: he mobilized the National Guard against the KKK.
