So I get an e-mail from the head of the department essentially scolding the faculty for not responding to an RSVP about some event at the library. Apparantly, the once-private Ulysses S. Grant foundation, a group that collects copies or originals of material relating to General Ulysses S. Grant, has decided to move its holdings to Mississippi State ( Read more... )

Hey, I'm with you. Not terribly surprised, though. If I'm remembering the laws passed at the end of last year right, we here in Georgia basically had to pay to have a month of history.

First: I adamantly sympathize with you. Grant is not a name trafficked fondly amongst my clan.

But:
#1, the Japanese absolutely did put an atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima.
#2, the one thing I always offer in Grant's defense: he mobilized the National Guard against the KKK.
