I got a phone call today from 1812 Productions, a comedy theatre troupe that had put out an ad seeking an unpaid intern to help them with marketing, public relations, stuff like that. I sent in my resume and cover letter and, for the first time in my life, actually got a response. I'm going in to interview with them next Monday

Something you should look into before you bank on WT in Oberlin... confirm that you can actually move into a room at the beginning of January. Give Oberlin a call tomorrow, they can give you an answer quickly.

That said, I would love your face in Oberlin as soon as physically possible.

My Mum works at Tri-C (Cuyahoga Community College) a couple blocks from where we live, which means I'd be able to take classes there for free; she keeps pushing me to do things that I've been meaning to do for ages, like take Arabic (for srs - I think it might actually help me get into Northwestern) and a couple journalism classes. I've never done it because I'm so skeeved about...well, everything about Tri-C in general. D: D: D:

You can definitely put Neil Gaiman in Cleveland on your to-do calendar I'd like to to-do him, if you know what I - in October!! That's something that's for sure! :D :D :D And we can totally go to the Rock Hall and stuff while you're here for the weekend - you said you've never been, right? Agree with M. I'd go pro-1812: though WT in Obietown is grand*, you've got some more time to do it.

* Allegedly grand. It's got some pretty noticeable downsides (snow, isolation and boredom) that make me avoid WT in Oberlin.

Definitely go on the Interview! At least do that since they've called you back. Keeping that busy would definitely make the time go by faster, and the experience would be grand... plus you'd have income from elsewhere. Also, you might be able to turn it into a winter term project.
