We can spend that whole night believing that something about us ever was right

Before November or December 2008, I didn't make a conscious effort to keep up with current events. (Why yes, the change in my behavior did coincide roughly with the election. How fascinating.) That's not something I'm proud of, but it's just how it was. I wasn't willfully ignorant exactly; it just wasn't a priority for me. The big stories obviously ( Read more... )

Politics can be insanely brainbreaking, I know. There's a reason why they say that ignorance is bliss.

There's a lot of stuff that's screwed up. Just be glad you weren't around for all that ACORN business and Sarah Palin's failtastic interviews during the election itself ('What magazines do you read?' 'Uh...all of them! :D :D :D' '...').

The whole healthcare thing is driving me up a tree (especially since I worked at HHS, which means LISTENING TO NOTHING BUT HEALTHCARE ARGUMENTS EVERYDAY by coworkers who really didn't know what they were talking about). Sometimes I get tired of caring, too - that's when I avoid Jon and Stephen for a week and only glance at the front of 'The New York Times' instead of buying it.

:[ And I hope Good2Go calls you soon. I know how frustrating it is to have to sit around and wait for someone else to take action like that although I never actually get the job in that situation because they end up hiring someone else and forget to tell me. Maybe you should try calling them again? :\

Please try to feel better. Blago!icon for you!

i'm still pretty ignorant about a lot of politics. i do know that fox sucks a shit ton and that there are right-wing crazies doing stupid shit. at the same time, i know my dad is pretty well-informed, even though he's a republican. and he knows more about healthcare than anyone i know, and is in the industry, and thinks universal healthcare is a bad idea. mostly because private insurance through jobs would go kaput and then the only insurance, without much competition, would be the government's. and the government tends to fuck things up. that's his logic, and i believe it makes sense. he's also pretty annoyed at the medal obama was trying to bestow on the former president of ireland; that whole anti-semitic/anti-israel shebang that was originally supposed to be about human rights she helped run was kind of maybe not such a good idea. and also why we pulled out of the second one ( ... )
