Today started off really well. Cute OKCupid girl wrote back to me after a month, and added me on Facebook. Waking up to that, I figured, the rest of the day couldn't be that bad, right

I actually thought that the number of mistakes you made for the period of two years actually sounded ...well, 'reasonable' would be the wrong word, but I wouldn't see that as a lot? So maybe your boss thinks the same way?

I was about to reply with this. Employees your age particularly can be unreliable - it's not like you make a habit of sleeping in late, or that you don't care that you accidentally screwed up. For a job like yours, it sounds like you're doing well and he trusts you a lot. Getting rid of you over something like that, after he's trained you and trusts you to the level of letting you close up, would be completely counter-intuitive. Don't beat yourself up for not being perfect. You're still a person.
Um, how can I make you understand that he probably thinks you're a fantastic employee, if those are the only three mistakes you've made in TWO YEARS? And they're all pretty minor, human mistakes? You're nineteen, right?
(Here I started to write a list of all the crazy shit my various coworkers have done, people working with children for respected non-profits. But that's probably not necessary.)
In my experience, a shit-ton of people your age do not know the meaning of the word "professional". You hold yourself to extremely high standards, and that will pay off some day if you can use it to your advantage and not let the stress eat you too much. (This is something I really need to remember, as well. Mental note.)
