Bak to the gym, after what was essentially a 7 month layoff.
 The numbers were sad :(
One hand dumbell snatch, (te he) which is a great test of overall strength, 100 down fronm 150

Bench a strong 275, a weak 315...down from 375... suxx

Squat: I did not try for a 1RM. 495 for 3 was shakey but 405 was strong, effortless almost down from 595. I would love ( Read more... )

That is a lot of weight. I know you're disappointed with the numbers, but damn, man.

ya gotta remember I weigh 310ish. So ratio-wise, even at my best they are not in the elite category.

Just a matter of time and effort, right?

weelllll if you weighed 310... I doubt your numbers would look anything like that... but at 148, say, a 350 deadlift would be an elite lift. At +275 I need 700.

You'll get it back - and soon, if my experience suggests anything. I had an almost-two-month layoff this summer (residential SF program followed by an inexplicable wrist injury), and when I got back to things just recently, I noticed a similar drop. I'd been doing only what I call "maintenance," one set of things whenever I had the chance. What most disappointed me was an evening of arm-wrestling, wherein I had great trouble putting down my opponents', even those I've easily beaten just months ago.

But soon, soon! Strength in all the usual techniques is already approaching what it was before the summer, just a couple weeks in. I'm sure you'll see similar results.

Provided I actually manage to keep it up... It's totally a mental thing.
Arm-wrestling SF writers? That sounds like the beginning of a really weird comedy sketch.
